At the HRC Atlanta Gala, we came together around one truth: Community = Power. As attacks on voting rights and LGBTQ+ equality continue, we’re organizing, building, and fighting back—because our power has always come from showing up together. Atlanta showed up for Big Tigger’s Beltline BikeFest—community, culture, and connection all in one place. #TeamNikema was there hosting a Congress In Your Community, making sure families had access to resources while showing up for one another. That’s how we do it in #TheFightingFifth.

#TeamNikema hosted a Congress in Your Community today at the Atlanta Mental Health Fair at Liberty Plaza. My office is always here to serve the #FightingFifth and help with federal agency issues. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and to the organizers for creating such an important space for mental health awareness. 💙

Don’t be the poverty police. Needing SNAP doesn’t mean someone should have their plate monitored. People deserve real, nutritious food—hot meals included. In #TheFightingFifth, we look out for each other and make sure our people have what they need.

House Republicans kept DHS shut down for over 70 days, cutting off funding for TSA and more. They caved today and voted for Democrats’ bill to fund the parts of DHS that actually keep people safe. This should have happened sooner, but Republicans chose to play games with your safety while doing nothing to address affordability. Enough is enough. #FightingFifth families deserve better.

House Republicans just passed a Farm Bill that cuts SNAP and makes it harder for families in the #FightingFifth and across the country to put food on the table. I offered amendments to expand SNAP for college students and help families afford essentials like menstrual products, internet, and maternal care, but Republicans rejected them. This Supreme Court decision is a direct attack on Black representation in Congress and the voting power of Black Americans in the #FightingFifth and across the country. Republicans are choosing power over people to hold onto control. We’ve fought this before. We will fight again.

More Americans in the #FightingFifth and across the country are falling behind and feeling it every day. Groceries, rent, and energy costs are rising as Trump’s unauthorized war drives prices higher at home. Republicans are refusing to address affordability while families struggle to afford the basics. That is a choice.

At a roundtable with @momsrising and @demwomencaucus, I heard mamas speak on rising grocery costs, child care, and the pressure of keeping their families afloat. Let’s be clear, this affordability crisis didn’t happen by accident. Republican policies have made it harder for families to get by while costs keep rising. I’m fighting for real relief in the #FightingFifth and beyond.

The right to a safe job was won through the labor movement—and it’s worth protecting. This Workers Memorial Day, we remember those we’ve lost and continue the fight for strong worker protections, safer workplaces, and dignity on the job in the #FightingFifth and nationwide.

In the #FightingFifth and across the country, families are struggling to make ends meet—they deserve lawmakers who lower costs, not line their own pockets.

Today, we honor and celebrate the life and legacy of #CorettaScottKing. On what would have been her 99th birthday, we remember the dedication, compassion, and leadership she brought to the Civil Rights Movement and to every life she touched along the way. We know her work to advance equity and justice continues through her enduring legacy and lives on always.
