Leslie, Carter, and I are praying for the families, friends, and loved ones of the three American service members killed in combat this weekend, as well as for the service member who is still missing.   We honor those we've lost and the lives they devoted to our country by doing everything in our power to bring an end to this war and achieve lasting, sustainable peace in the region.

Trump is trying to set the stage for interference of his own in the 2026 and 2028 elections.   We will not let him silence voters in the #FightingFifth or across the country.

Six years ago today, we lost the Conscience of Congress, my friend, predecessor, and mentor, Congressman John Lewis. Today, we reflect on his extraordinary legacy and unwavering commitment to justice, equality, and voting rights.   As Congressman Lewis reminded us, “Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a year, it is the struggle of a lifetime.”   We honor his legacy by carrying it forward and continuing to make Good Trouble, Necessary Trouble.

Same lies, different day.   Trump’s lies are an attempt to lay the groundwork for undermining the next election. They are a deliberate effort to erode trust in our democracy and intimidate voters.    We'll keep fighting against every attempt to silence voters.

I joined @RepJayapal in demanding accountability for ICE's violent shootings. The American people deserve a full and independent investigation into the deaths, the fear these incidents have caused, and any efforts to deport eyewitnesses. We will not accept this administration's pattern of denials and cover-ups.

FSC Democrats tried to subpoena Russell Vought, Acting Director of the CFPB. He’s required to testify before the committee twice a year, yet this was his first appearance in two years.

The American people deserve accountability. They’re not getting it from this administration.

Homeownership builds generational wealth, but too many families in the #FightingFifth and across the country are being priced out as hedge funds and corporate investors buy up homes.   The Protecting American Homes from Hedge Funds Act puts families first by leveling the playing field so more Americans can buy homes, build wealth, and invest in their communities.

Trump’s idea of “big yawn” policy, the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, went into law at midnight and is the most significant housing package in decades. Including two of my own provisions to boost generational wealth and continue to close the racial wealth gap, this legislation takes important steps to address the housing crisis in the #FightingFifth and across the country.

As part of the Democratic Women’s Caucus’ From Founding to Future series, I convened women entrepreneurs to bring their lived experiences to Washington and shape policies that help small businesses grow. In the #FightingFifth and across our country, women own more than 40% of U.S. businesses. That's why I launched the Fighting Fifth Small Business Advisory Council—to hear directly from business owners and take those conversations back to Washington. From expanding access to capital to restoring the Minority Business Development Agency and advancing my Minority Entrepreneurship Grant Program Act, I'll keep fighting to ensure women-owned and minority-owned businesses like @justaddhoney have the tools they need to thrive.

As a former educator, I'll always believe in the power of literacy and giving every child the resources they need to succeed. #TeamNikema was at the Forest Park Library for another Congress in Your Community, connecting families with federal resources. That's how we show up in the #FightingFifth.

Georgia lost a giant with the passing of Larry Pellegrini. Larry was a fearless champion for LGBTQ+ equality and progressive causes. He was a mentor, a coalition builder, and someone who helped shape generations of advocates, myself included. During my early days lobbying at the Georgia State Capitol, I had the privilege of working alongside Larry through the Georgia Rural Urban Summit during Women in the Halls weekly lobby days with Planned Parenthood. Larry taught me that lasting change is built by bringing people together, investing in relationships, and never losing sight of the communities we serve. Through decades of advocacy, Larry dedicated his life to advancing equality, dignity, and opportunity across Georgia. His impact on Atlanta, the #FightingFifth, and Georgia's progressive movement will be felt for generations. My heart is with Larry's family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched. We honor his legacy by carrying his work forward and continuing the fight for a Georgia where everyone belongs.

July is #BIPOCMentalHealthMonth. In the #FightingFifth and across our country, everyone deserves access to quality mental health care. Nearly 1 in 5 U.S. adults experiences a mental illness each year, yet too many Black, Latino, Asian American, Native, and other historically underserved communities still face barriers to treatment because of stigma, cost, language access, and limited access to culturally responsive care. No one should have to struggle in silence or go without care because of their ZIP code or their bank account. I'll keep fighting to expand access to behavioral health services and ensure every family can get the support they deserve.

Innovation creates opportunity, and I'm fighting to make sure the #FightingFifth leads the way. Mercedes-Benz's new Research & Development Hub brings hundreds of jobs and helps position Georgia at the forefront of vehicle technology and digital innovation. That's how we grow our economy and invest in our people.

We fight in Congress, in our communities, and in the courts. Trump’s election fraud conspiracies are an intimidation tactic. That’s why I condemned the assignment of FBI agents to Atlanta to investigate the 2020 election in a congressional oversight letter.
