I am deeply heartbroken for the victims, Miss Murguia, Miss Rojas, and Miss Dolores Huerta, and outraged and disgusted by the harm that was done to young girls. Like many, I am also devastated to learn that someone I once saw as an inspiration caused such harm. I unequivocally condemn rape and child molestation and stand with survivors.
We must hold abusers accountable.
We must also support organizations like “Líderes Campesinas,” who work on the front lines for better farm working conditions and against sexual harassment and abuse in the agricultural industry. I will continue to honor and fight for farm workers and the farmworker movement, but not the man.

TSA agents and DHS workers just missed their first full paycheck. Republicans can end this shutdown today, but they’re blocking funding unless ICE gets $28B more with no accountability. Hardworking Americans are paying the price.

I’ve been calling for this for a long time. I’m glad to see Kristi Noem fired. The Department of Homeland Security needs leadership that respects the law, protects civil rights, and restores accountability.

My heart breaks for the service members killed and severely injured. My prayers are with their families and with every service member in harm’s way. We owe them support, clear objectives, and accountability.  There was no proof or evidence given to Congress and the American people of an imminent threat to the U.S. and Trump sent them anyway. It didn't have to be this way and I will demand answers.

Once again, Donald Trump has lied to the American people, broken the law, and risked American lives for a personal vendetta. He repeatedly promised no new wars and criticized past Presidents for starting wars without Congressional approval, but here he is, doing exactly that. We had an international agreement that prevented Iran from having nuclear weapons, but Trump tore it up. He's the only reason Iran is able to pursue nuclear weapons. Congress must act immediately to stop Trump from risking American lives.

The Trump administration, with EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, is moving to roll back the Endangerment Finding, the rule that lets us limit dangerous air pollution. That decision won’t stay in Washington. It will be felt in places like our district, where families already live with dirty air and higher asthma rates. Weakening clean air protections means more pollution, more ER visits, and more families paying the price- while polluters get a free pass.

Palo Verde Hospital is critical for the people of Blythe. Without it, patients facing emergencies would have to travel more than 70 miles for care and that distance and travel time can be the difference between life and death. I applaud Riverside County Supervisor Perez and the Board, CEO Jeff Van Wagenen and Riverside University Health for stepping up to provide much needed management services and the emergency funds needed to qualify for an additional $9 million in federal funds. I'm also grateful for the tireless work by @SenAdamSchiff, State Senator Steve Padilla and @CAgovernor Gavin Newsom for paving a workable path forward.

I am absolutely honored to help #IndianHealthServices (IHS) secure $8.05 billion in funding for Fiscal Year 2026 and 5.3 billion in advanced funding for Fiscal year 2027!    Indian Health Services provides healthcare to 2.8 million American Indians and Alaska Natives. It is by law, an important responsibility, and very much needed.   I am pleased to support IHS in our district and across the nation in its commitment to provide quality health care and education across the nation.

Grateful to welcome water district leaders from our district to DC for my constituent open house. Ensuring safe, affordable drinking water and investing in modern water infrastructure takes strong partnerships and I’m committed to continuing this work together for our district.

Last night, I was honored to have Frank Brabec of Indio join me at the State of the Union. Frank is a small business owner and health care consultant who has dedicated his career to strengthening hospitals and serving patients. He reached out to my office stating that like millions of families, he’s facing a harsh reality: without the enhanced ACA premium tax credits, his family’s health insurance costs have more than double, costing him $15,000 more a year. Health care affordability isn’t political, it’s personal. I’m grateful to Frank for reaching out and sharing his story.
