Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) said. “Or there is no path.” Rep. Erin Houchin (R-Ind.), a Budget Committee member, told @politico last night she had “concerns” about the plans and Rs has “a long way to go” before she would vote to advance the plans in a markup. Today Houchin raised pushback directly to GOP leaders in a closed-door conference meeting. RSC Chair August Pfluger of Texas, one of recon 3.0 biggest boosters, told us: “We really don’t have any details from leadership. We are continuing to urge them to be aggressive and be strong.” Pfluger also said he spoke up during the closed-door House GOP meeting to urge Republicans to do more to tackle fraud in social programs to find more cost savings. For the second time in less than a week, ICE agents have shot and killed someone.
How much more evidence do we need that ICE is out of control?
The American people deserve a full and transparent investigation that includes local law enforcement. DHS and the FBI cannot be trusted to conduct an honest investigation.
This also underscores why we need legislation that lets us hold ICE accountable for their abuses. My ICE and CBP Constitutional Accountability Act would let people sue the federal government when ICE or CBP violates our rights. Enough is enough. We need real accountability and real reforms.
