Food prices are still too high, and families are feeling it. I visited Green Wagon Farm in Ada to hear how the Trump Administration's decision to end future funding for the USDA's Local Food Purchase Assistance Program has made it harder to get Michigan-grown food to local families and food pantries. Restoring this funding would help farmers, strengthen local food systems, and make fresh food more affordable.

When taxpayer dollars are allocated for critical infrastructure, we have a responsibility to put them to work.
The American people deserve to see these investments reach their communities, not sit stalled in Washington.

This was never about waste, fraud, or abuse.
The Trump Administration admitted in court that it canceled billions in federal grants based solely on whether a state voted for him.
Taxpayer dollars shouldn't come with a political loyalty test. If Congress appropriates the funding, every eligible American deserves to receive it.

Trump promised these deadly strikes would stop drugs from reaching our shores.
The DEA’s own assessment says cocaine is still coming in, traffickers are adapting, and traditional investigations are being undermined.
That’s not success.

The Gordie Howe International Bridge is exactly the kind of project Michigan needs: stronger trade, more reliable supply chains, and good-paying jobs on both sides of the border.
Attempts to derail it were never about what was best for the state of Michigan.

Gas prices are already above $4 a gallon nationwide, and experts say they're likely headed even higher.
Families shouldn't have to pay more at the pump because of a war they never asked for. Every extra dollar spent filling up a tank is a dollar that can't go toward groceries, rent, or child care.

Grand Rapids just earned Platinum status in the Michigan Green Communities Challenge!
From expanding our tree canopy to reducing water use and growing our clean vehicle fleet, West Michigan continues to prove that economic growth and environmental stewardship go hand in hand. Proud of our city for leading by example.

There are few things more West Michigan than a Coast Guard cutter in the harbor, a parade through town, and everyone insisting they know the best spot to watch the fireworks.
Happy 100 years of the Coast Guard Festival, Grand Haven. Here's to a century of celebrating the Coasties who make our lakes—and our communities—strong. ⚓

Americans shouldn't have to worry that the medicine they rely on will become more expensive.
If we're serious about bringing pharmaceutical manufacturing back to the United States, we need a strategy that lowers costs and strengthens supply chains—not one that risks making lifesaving generic drugs harder to afford.

The American Legion, a veterans service organization, hosts Boys Nation each summer, bringing outstanding high school students together for a hands-on introduction to how the government actually works. Delegates run their own mock elections, build political parties, debate legislation, all while learning what civic leadership really takes.
So cool that West Michigan’s very own Joe Emerson got to take part!

1,700 HIV clinics have closed because of Trump administration cuts.
PEPFAR is one of the greatest bipartisan success stories in modern history, and dismantling it is costing lives.

President Trump has placed more political appointees in government positions without Senate approval than any administration in our nation's history. That is not how a democratic government is supposed to work, and it’s why I introduced the CAP Act. It’s a commonsense piece of legislation that limits these appointments to 1,600, so the people making some of the most important decisions in our government have real oversight and accountability.

Safety will always be T&I Dems’ top priority—from land to sea.
At today’s roundtable, @TransportDems met with maritime industry and @USCG leaders to discuss ways to keep commerce flowing and keep American waters safe for passengers and crews.
