HB26-1126 is the kind of policy that pushes more businesses out of Colorado—hitting districts like HD 47 especially hard. At the same time, it continues to chip away at the rights of law-abiding citizens. We should be focused on supporting our communities, protecting freedoms, and keeping Colorado a place where people want to live, work, and invest—not driving them away.

“Enough is enough.” @RepTyWinter lays it out: HB26-1126 is driving businesses out of rural Colorado and chipping away at the rights of law-abiding citizens.

If the state keeps taking money from the Highway Users Tax Fund (HUTF), it's our local communities that pay the price. These dollars are meant to go directly to our counties, cities, and municipalities to maintain and repair roads and bridges—not to be redirected elsewhere. When we pilfer these funds, we're taking resources away from the very infrastructure folks rely on every day. We need to protect HUTF and ensure those dollars stay where they belong-supporting our local communities and keeping Colorado moving.

It’s always great to have students, constituents, and friends visit us at the Capitol. I truly appreciate the opportunity to visit with folks from House District 47, answer their questions, and talk about the work being done under the dome. Thank you to everyone who takes the time to come down and be part of the process!

It was great having Miss Rodeo Colorado spend some time with us at the Capitol. Thank you for the work you do advocating not only for the sport of rodeo, but also for agriculture, our heritage, and Colorado’s western way of life.

I am honored to support HB26-1238, which formally recognizes Emergency Medical Services as an essential service in Colorado. Paramedics, EMTs, and other EMS responders are often the first on scene during medical emergencies and play a critical role in the continuum of care-especially in rural and frontier communities where access to hospitals can be limited. These professionals are on the front lines every day, and it's important that we recognize the vital role they play in keeping our communities safe.

As Ranking Member of the Agriculture Committee, it is an honor to co-prime SJR26-001, which recognizes projects from across the state that are eligible for funding through the Colorado Water Resources and Power Development Authority. These projects are critical to protecting and improving water supply and conservation efforts in communities across Colorado, and I’m proud that we take time each year to acknowledge the important work being done.

If we are serious about fighting for workers, we need to make sure the dollars they earn go further. Too often this building passes policies that raise costs, eliminate good paying jobs, and make life harder for working families.

I’m honored to co-prime sponsor HB26-1198, the Access to Veterinary Care bill, which passed the House today. This legislation helps increase access to veterinary care by expediting the process for veterinarians to become licensed by endorsement, clarifying the use of prescription and compounded drugs, and creating a program to allow the donation of veterinary medications. This is a practical step to help recruit veterinarians and alleviate the large-animal veterinarian shortage in rural Colorado.

It was truly an honor to recognize District Wildlife Manager Bob Holder for more than 50 years of dedicated service protecting Colorado’s wildlife, natural resources, and sportsmen and women. Mr. Holder’s legacy will have a lasting impact on our state and the generations who enjoy our great outdoors. Congratulations on a well-deserved retirement!

State mandates handed down from the Capitol are putting real pressure on our local governments. Counties and municipalities are being asked to do more with less, stretching already tight budgets and pulling resources away from the services our communities rely on every day.

Today I sat in Transportation, Housing & Local Government Committee to hear SB26-001. This bill gives our local governments more flexibility to use government-owned land, local dollars, and state tax credits to support workforce and affordable housing projects. That flexibility matters - because housing challenges look ditterent in every corner of our state.

HB26-1144 does nothing to put food on the table, lower energy costs, protect businesses, strengthen agriculture, or reduce crime in House District 47. I came here to make life easier for my constituents and to find solutions that actually deliver.
