Fantastic, thought provoking talk by Dr Matt Walton on rescuer wellbeing. Great to hear there will be a rescuer wellbeing coming to our teams via RCUK in the new year. It's time we learnt some fundamental lessons about the emotional costs of caring careers.

Day of @ResusCouncilUK annual conference. Starting well with some great speakers this morning. It's great to be back learning and sharing with our resus family.

@Arrhythmianurse Not surprising my friend, you worked tirelessly the last couple of days (although to be fair you do every day). Hope you feel rested this morning.

On a scale of 1 - 10, I am ‘There’s a package with new dresses sitting on the table waiting to be opened but I have no energy to try them on tired’

@ResusSFH @simonmarkdaley @SFHFT @ResusCouncilUK Facebook memories just told me it’s 3 years today since I passed my GIC! I agree, it’s a tough course but so very worthwhile. 😊

@Arrhythmianurse @simonmarkdaley @SFHFT @ResusCouncilUK I love this book. GIC was (at the time) on of the most stressful things I had gone through but I learnt loads, grew even more and it opened the door to my current career path.

@karenlhillman @DavidAinsNHS Absolutely agree Karen. It tells our people what our priorities are, them or the job that we need them for. The reality should be a balance of both, but for me it certainly doesn't feel that way at the moment.

@ResusSFH @DavidAinsNHS Absolutely, but would the impact of such events be worth the prioritisation? I personally think so 👍🏼 We need to invest in our staff now more than ever.

@karenlhillman @DavidAinsNHS There was a great band 7 ward & department leader time out day during summer, reflection, networking, self-development. Came away feeling reinvigorated. Sadly our system in the NHS has so many gaps and strains that it is immensely difficult for these events to be prioritised!

@DavidAinsNHS Team days, away from work, to do team building, informal training, be together in a less intense environment. Aim to improve communication, problem solving, etc. These days seem to be provided in the private sector, but not something that’s so available in the NHS. 🤷🏽‍♀️

A huge thankyou to our fantastic EPALS faculty and the hard working Resus services team for an amazing two day course. Massive shout to our candidates for all their hard work and dedication, there's no course without your involvement and effort too!
