I disagree. Historically speaking if humans weren’t useful to the collective they’d be discarded. If you were discarded you had to figure out how to survive.
Food, water, and shelter are a privilege that you’re either born into or work toward. If you hand these out humans become complacent and instinct gets shoved into the corner
