I'm not necessarily gonna claim this is fromsoft's descent into MTX slop but it is weird to charge money for this when sekiro got a huge update with boss remixes plus cosmetics and it was free. I wonder what changed about their ethos

FromSoft fans when you say there’s a completely optional cosmetic pack with new classes for at most $5 that no one is forcing them to get to enjoy the base game

tbh I don't have strong feelings about pride month, but I will say that celebrating it is infinitely less harmful than celebrating other forms of collective identity like nationalism or religion. both of those things have and continue to sow death and suffering worldwide

obviously people who play a modded version of a game are experiencing a different version of the game and that needs to be taken into account, but I see no issues with modders actively experimenting with games they love. entirely new games have been birthed that way

"modding games is anti-art" is boring, unimaginative, essentialist nonsense. modding is active engagement in game design. some mods work well, others may not, but if we all agree that game design is an art, then making alterations to game design is participation in said art

PSA: for those who find DS2's mechanics add too much friction, there is a mod by the talented AoiYozora (Seeker of Fire, Bearer of the Curse) named Player Enhancements, which lets you walk during estus, change direction easier when attacking, slower durability loss, adp changes

@fromsoftserve I don't agree with every change that this mod makes but I think modding in general is great and healthy for the medium/industry. I can only assume the people throwing a fit over this only see playing games as a substitute for actual accomplishments lol

@Emilk010 it's really obvious that certain parts of DS2 just weren't playtested whatsoever, the mimic is a really egregious example. probably because it had a really troubled development compared to the other games in the series
