@travelandchill1 PNWers know it's Vancouver. The most livable city in North America consistently
English

@RoaringHammy Yes, hard not to have fun, but certainly not my favorite vacation type. Prefer to get to know an area better and get off the tourist path.
English

I disagree. The most underrated place in Europe is this French town that thinks it's Italian.

Alessandro Palombo@thealepalombo
This is (also) the ultimate most underrated city in all of Europe.
English

@RoaringHammy Despite the fact minimum wage of over $20 an hour applies to tipping positions it's still 18-20% tip. Means I think twice before eating out often these days. Meanwhile inflation is up another 5% in my city over the past year
English

@RoaringHammy If they choose a US college, then partially. I would love to see them go to college in Europe.
English

@RoaringHammy I have mixed emotions on this as someone who played by the corporate first rules my whole life and am about to go on sabbatical. There are dumb risks and calculated risks and sometimes you need to live life instead of prioritizing a corporate job and missing out on life.
English

@RoaringHammy Yeah. But at that point it's first world problems. If you don't care as bout keeping up with neighbors you can always pull the plug and live in many places. I realized this when eating out in my city became more costly than NYC.
English

@RoaringHammy Very close to that. Think often of selling out and having a paid for place (ideally overseas), but kids.
English

@RoaringHammy One car 2 years (13 yr old car), the other 10 years (16 yr old car). Paid $4,600 and $9k for the cars.
English

@TimurNegru No, but certainly interesting thought I'd be open to at the right time
English

@BarbellFi You'd be fine. But do remember your Social Security will be much less without 35 working years.
English

@RoaringHammy Would almost surely be the case in the states too.
English

@BoomerDivvies Fair, but in general what do you do about the ever widening wealth gap. This huge gap didn't exist to such an extent decades ago. In the end it comes down to the type of community one wants, each for their own or more community together.
