Here are my thoughts on Samson so far. Hand-to-hand Combat is quite fun, punching enemies has a lot of weight to it, it feels somewhat realistic and I like the small details that the devs have added like saliva and blood dropping out of them as you punch them. The open world is also quite good, Tyndalston is a very small town but I like the design of it. Driving feels fine; there are tons of options like handbrake, turning the engine off, side ram and using the nitro. However it does have a ton of input delay that I don't really enjoy Samson's biggest issues are that it falls short on bugs, glitches, movement stiffness and performance issues. The same hand-to-hand combat has the occasional bugs and glitches that tend to ruin the experience. Having Unreal Engine 5 as a game engine also means that this game suffers from performance dips, frametime issues and it looks blurry. Its not the worst experience I've seen form an Unreal Engine 5 title, but it is also nothing to brag about. Mission design is simple, you are either beating people up, looking for someone to beat up or have a car chase to destroy enemy cars. What the game doesn't seem have though is a checkpoint system, if you die during a mission (you easily die here for no reason sometimes). Then you're spawned back to the beginning of the mission I've seen some criticism towards this game and it is crucial in my opinion to set your expectations right before playing this game, Samson was never meant to be a GTA competitor just because it is a "GTA-like" game. Is this game worth it for $25? Personally I'm having fun playing it so far, its not the best experience but it is a 7/10 at best for this price, it didn't exceed any of my expectations though. The story seems interesting and some side quests are actually quite interesting too, like this one guy who asked me to kill him in order to get insurance money for his wife. I like the developers vision with this game and I'd like to support them, however I cannot recommend buying this game until the performance issues are fixed. It needed a bit more time in the oven. Samson would benefit a lot with patches in the future and performance improvements, still what Liquid Swords have managed to do here is still quite good, I really hope that the studio grows even bigger to bring larger scale games in the future. I'll keep you guys updated as I play through this game and finish the story.
