4 steps before I actually enter a trade:
I'll post ideas, research, charts on X...but it takes more than that to move something into my "open position" bucket.
Here's my general flow:
1) initial idea comes to my attention
- is this worth my attention?
- is there asymmetry?
- is this new or novel info?
2) look @ other ppl's research
- reports, opinions, social posts, substacks
- do people I trust see this idea?
- observe bull/bear cases
- what are institutions/analysts saying?
3) my personal DD (most important)
- do I believe this independently?
- what data do I need to verify?
- what else can I find that everyone's missing?
- how's the setup look?
- what would invalidate the thesis?
4) trade construction + building conviction
- are the story, chart, theme, and environment giving me an opportunity to actually open a position here?
- after researching, is the thesis worth my $$$?
- is the risk defined + capped?
5) Enter position
- if steps 1-4 are aligned, I enter.
Some friction on purpose to eliminate impulse decisions + it ensures that I always independently verify everything and never blindly follow anyone into a trade.

i met a billionaire for the first time last year. he was incredibly, incredibly depressed. he told me he'd give up every dollar, every drop in his bank accounts, if he could eat some jam-on-toast just one more time, with flaky salt and black pepper sprinkled on top. salt and pepper? with jam? i questioned. yes, the billionaire replied, thick tears pouring down his eyes, they go surprisingly well with each other. i asked what is stopping him from making one right now. he gasped, a syrupy burst of air erupting from his mouth, and dashed to the kitchen. he emerged a few minutes later, lips jam-coated, triumphantly chomping on the exact meal he just described

Clavicular grills the guy who has spent $2,000,000 on Alice Rosenblum
Clavicular: “A lot of people probably have questions but really I’m just wondering where you get $2M from looking like that?”
Subscriber: “I’m a day trader, I invest in stocks like Nvidia, Microsoft and Apple”
Clavicular: Somehow this doesn’t seem to me like a guy who made $2M, I don’t know what it is”

This JPMorgan saga proves every single Indian stereotype.
1. Scammer — fabricated a story to rake in some cash
2. Incompetent — failed at his job, likely lied about his credentials to get hired
3. Pervert — delusional sexual fantasies about white & Asian women
