@paulaj_25 It is very clearly an offer. There is a command - Go. Followed by 3 blessings in response. A command - be a blessing. Followed by 3 blessings in response. If Abraham stayed in Ur, there would have been no blessings. Abram has no reason to boast in Gen 15, faith isn't a work.

@RevReads289 Man Genesis 12:2-3 is an absolute and clean statement about God's promise to Abraham. He didn't give abram an offer but he assured him the blessings. When it comes to covenant God himself went through the cuts to have it's consequences where is the reason for him to boast??

@peortega1 If she was not a sinner, Jesus did not die for and did not save her. Romans 5:8 teaches us that Jesus died for us and saved us while we were sinners. If she didn't sin, she wasn't saved.

@RevReads289 Mary having kids is NOT a sin, in fact, she having kids with her husband Joseph makes her even more holiest and saintess Mary was not a sinner because her Divine Son save her from the sin like He did with everyone the believers

@paulaj_25 God didn't cut a covenant with Abraham until he believed. He made an offer to Abraham - go and be a blessing and then I will bless you. Then He cut a covenant with Abraham after Abraham believed.

@RevReads289 Did God choose Abram because of his faith? Or he was chosen before his faith was demonstrated?? Don't say God foreknew his faith so he chose him that wouldn't make sense.

Question for baseball fans: Why are batting averages so low now?!? I looked at some baseball stats today (for the first time since childhood lol) & I was SHOCKED. There used to be like 40 guys who finished the season above .300, now there's like 5?! Are pitchers just that good?

@RevReads289 @Curi_Christian Not lying about you at all. Everybody who blames God for "not doing enough for them" is a big proponent of libertarian free will.

Why is there always so much fighting over free will?

@Curi_Christian At least for me, it's about justice. I'm guilty of my sin because I freely sinned against God. God is righteous to judge because He didn't will my sin.

If for no other reason, the ESV is out for this error. It has led to a whole string of horrible theology by people who are ranking the frequency and severity of other people’s sins while excusing their own.

@cjohnson_08 @RevReads289 @lukeappleton We see in Luke 16 that a gulf is between those in hell and those that were in Abraham's bosom. Everyone knows what hell is, but not so much Hades. I think words like Hades soften the concept of hell. As in Luke 10:15 (MV). But this would be a good study topic, thank you.

@Paul00540712 @RevReads289 @lukeappleton I think it’s helpful to describe the differences in hell/Sheol/lake of fire. Without the distinction you have everyone pre-Jesus (Abraham Moses Noah) going to hell with unbelievers without separation. With the distinction of Sheol/Abraham’s bussom you see they aren’t in the LOF

@DirtyThomist Believing that God sends infants to eternal hell who neither had a chance to sin or believe in Christ is abominable.

Taking the moderate Westminsterian confessional position that only elect infants are saved is evidently getting controversial in some of my circles, to the point where to even believe that there could technically be non-elect infants makes you out to be abominable.

@Vestwitt The Bible clearly states over 100 times that the grace of Christ must be received by faith in order to benefit the individual.

@RevReads289 If that meant that everyone would be saved, then there would be no one thrown into the lake of fire per Revelation 20:15.

It's nice to remember that the author of Hebrews also believed that Jesus died for everyone (Hebrews 2:9).

@lukeappleton Excellent. The KJV also uses terms consistently as opposed to the modern versions that are guided by the need to obtain a new copyright.
