@lukeappleton It’s true? Except for the parts science has proven to be incorrect. Except for the parts where it contradicts itself. Except for the parts that are absent or contradicted by other documents written contemporaneously with the Bible. It makes the Bible a poor source for history.

@doepssd @lukeappleton NIV, go figure. My Bible makes a distinction, yours does not. “Force” and “lay hold” are not the same. One means rape. The other does not. This is why we Christians end up fighting all the time. Our books don’t agree.

We already abolished slavery, I’m not about to have some moron start teaching it’s ok because the Bible says it is. The Bible also says if a virgin woman is raped, her rapist must marry her and pay a fine. I don’t want children to start learning that’s ok either.

I’ve never read The Bible. I’m not Christian. But the clear and obvious answer to this question is YES: “Should students be required the read the book that has had the greatest impact on humanity and shaped the foundation, morality and principles of the country you live in?”
