@RevSoMuchBible He is exterminated.
He is exterminated, indeed.

This image of the last supper, from
@IllustratedMin, was laser cut into 1' squares, and then colored by the congregation of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Bixby, OK - one square a Sunday throughout Lent. It's now assembled, and ready for Maundy Thursday!

@JenniferEValent It's hard when people don't constantly affirm how brilliant and right you are. 😕
English

@HannahntheWolf I don't know your work, but I will say that you deserve to belong to a community that cares about you and listens to your voice. Don't give up seeking!

@bbenzington Thanks - it's been so good to be able to connect with everyone. This is definitely one of those times where being with a group of angry people is healing and hopeful ☺️

There's nothing wrong with being upfront. The Bible can cause harm and it's our responsibility to discern the right passage for the right moment.

@wonderwandersee I agree. I'm prayerful that we all have enough energy and momentum to keep going.

@johnstitcher @ChurchLead @Presbyterian @smartin_write Being locked in a room for five days intensively studying a passage is not the same as helping a congregant. You can talk with them, pray, point them to other resources, take time between visits to take care of yourself. Academic analysis is not the same as loving presence.

@ChurchLead @RevSoMuchBible @Presbyterian @smartin_write I'm curious. If woman has suffered sexual abuse, has read this passage,is struggling with it,and comes to her pastor form guidance. Pastor : "Sorry, that's too heavy for me. You're on your own". This might be a moment Pastors MUST be qualified to counsel.

A recent exegetical exam for candidates seeking ordination in the Presbyterian Church (USA) contained a Bible passage that some people are calling a “trauma trigger.” @Presbyterian @RevSoMuchBible churchleaders.com/news/444332-pr… @smartin_write #Judges #ordination

@EdLauber @ChurchLead @Presbyterian @smartin_write So, you believe that clergy should be raped? That is deeply disturbing and not a Christ-like suggestion at all.
English

@ChurchLead @Presbyterian @RevSoMuchBible @smartin_write I suggest that they each do an internship in a church in Kivu Province, Democratic Republic of Congo, often referred to as the rape capitol of the world.
English

@EdLauber @johnstitcher @ChurchLead @Presbyterian @smartin_write So, pastors are people, too. There is no grace in forcing them to relive trauma when doing so proves nothing. It drives people from ministry - people whose own experiences can help them be loving, understanding, and supportive when actual people need help.

@ChurchLead @RevSoMuchBible @Presbyterian @smartin_write I mean, I'm sorry, but as a Pastor, you're going to be the first point of contact for the greatest traumas of a great many of your parishioners. If someone can't even handle this hypothetically, this job isn't for them. It's not just about dressing up fancy and chanting prayers.
