Somewhere between 1 out of every two and one out of every three Kansas City residents who died over the past decade was due to a combination of just 6 factors. Lack of robust social connections was one of those 6.
Washington State Department of Health@WADeptHealth

Social connections help protect health and lengthen life. Scientists are finding that our links to others can affect our health. Social connections can influence our biology and well-being, whether with family, friends, neighbors, romantic partners, or others. From @NIH

COVID-19 Longhauler Advocacy Project
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics has released new data (that we all knew was coming, due to #LongCOVID being a #MassDisablingEvent)! From 2020-2023, the number of #disabled people rapidly rose, now hitting the highest level ever recorded at 34 million disabled people. COVID-19 Longhauler Advocacy Project was the first to report on disability and impacts to the labor force in January of 2022. At that time, 44% of our respondents said that they had to completely stop working, and 51% said they had to drop to part time work/ reduce hours, or find a new job/ career with a lighter workload. 41% said they had filed, or were about to file for SSD. We continue to allow COVID to run free, all while the majority have become complacent or non compliant with mitigation efforts. COVID is not going anywhere, and we will continue to see new infections and reinfections for years to come. Mitigation efforts are a necessity, but more so than ever, so are treatments and therapeutics and cures. It is time for an all hands on deck approach from our government, our elected officials, patient organizations and more, to collectively and rapidly act on #LongCOVID, which will undoubtedly assist in the understanding of other #InfectionAssociatedChronicConditions. #LongCOVID #Longhauler #MedTwitter #Disability #LongCOVIDResearch #LongCOVIDCare #LongCOVIDAdvocacy #LongCOVIDSupport #LongCOVIDEducation fred.stlouisfed.org/tags/series?t=…

So help me out @GOP is this big government or small government? Are Republican AGs some sort of morality police for the free market? If consumers don't like what Target is doing, they can go to Kohls. That's the free market concept of the economy. nypost.com/2023/07/06/rep…

Bad policy reduces life expectancy and increases the chances of dying early. This might have been avoided if the Supreme Court followed common sense ethics rules.

This message at the new Platte County Health Department reminds us of the primary importance of prevention over attempting a cure. If there even is a cure.

This is important for all elected officials to understand. Our residents in KCMO overwhelmingly voted to approve the Kansas City Health Department inspecting rental properties to ensure that residents were protected from the landlords who were not providing safe housing.
