So, on 25th Feb I had a bronchosopy to get tissue samples. 27th Feb I got the call it was Cancer. I have no idea how bad it is yet. CT scan is set for 9th March. Visit with Oncologist is on 11th March. Good thoughts and wishes will be appreciated. 💖🙏💖

He didn’t die in battle and get forgotten. Alfred the Great died in 899 and was properly buried in a monastery called Hyde Abbey in Winchester (with his wife&son). It was a royal burial at the time. The problem started with Henry VIII. In the 1530’s he shut down almost all the monasteries in England and destroyed a lot of them (this is called the Dissolution of the Monasteries). Hyde Abbey got torn apart, and the royal tombs got disturbed. Some bones were moved around over the centuries. In 1788, workers building a prison/garden on the old abbey site found bones and reburied them nearby. That spot is now basically a parking lot. A historian recently used old maps and figured out the likely spot, which is why people are talking about it again. So yeah… Henry VIII kind of messed with a lot of royal burials when he went after the monasteries. Same thing happened with Richard III (he ended up under a parking lot in Leicester for the same reason).
