@LegendaryEnergy Trump did not start a new war. He is just the first president to stand up to the bullies who have been at war against us for nearly 5 decades.

@Rex_Smashington @GB_C50 @pati_marins64 And they sunk one or two carriers, right. Stop taking Iranian propaganda at face value. I understand the skepticism with US and Israeli official pronouncements, but your skepticism should go both ways.

Some thoughts… If a multi-nation task force with full air support couldn't suppress missile launches from Yemen, within such a small area; If Israel, with all its drones and troops operating in Southern Lebanon, cannot suppress rocket fire in an area even smaller than Yemen; Whose idea was it that missile launches from Iran, a country with such a vast territory, could be suppressed?

Hey Tucker. Did you text the enemy, Iranian regime, in the lead up to this war and/or during the war or not?  Did Kent ever text you confidential or classified information?  Two simple questions. You put out that video the other day and then went silent about it. You clearly have been conspiring with Kent and are now promoting him. Very simple questions. As for Kent, like Carlson, there’s something very off with this guy.  And he’s only doing interviews with the cabal of American-hating neo-fascists. The traitors. Why is that?

“I’m not dying for Israel” is even worse than it sounds. (1) It buys into the “Jews control the world” mental illness. (2) It implies that Israel is not worth fighting for. (3) It accuses those supporting the war of being traitors to the U.S. (4) It suggests that true patriotism is showing contempt for a nation fighting shoulder to shoulder with us, a nation whose civilians are uniquely under constant attack from our enemy. (5) It is cowardly, pretending that you’re at risk when you’re actually sipping a latte 6000 miles away while Israelis huddle in bomb shelters. Am I missing anything?

One of the few differences between the Iraq War and the Iran War is that Bush/Cheney and the neocon crew felt compelled to spend a year deceiving Americans to support it. Trump just started it without even bothering with the pretense of Congressional or popular support:
Sam Haselby@samhaselby

The war on Iran is a massive, systemic failure of the US political system. No one but the military contracts and Israel fanatics wants it. It's terrible for Americans, for the whole world. Where is the opposition party? Where are the checks and balances? Where is democracy?

If drawing an Israeli soldier stepping on the skull of a dead Palestinian is anti-Semitic, what do you make of this photograph of an Israeli soldier doing precisely that?

In Margate. My cheeks are red. I am shaking. I popped into an exhibition that turned out to be the insane fever dream of an artist called Matthew Collins: ‘Drawings Against Genocide.’ The exhibition is described as ‘drawings… raising consciousness about hell…. Israel is the pure encapsulation of it. Zionism is this terror state’s ruling ideology.’ Shocked by the use of Nazi imagery - the room is full of the Star of David pasted around figures meant to be Israelis and the Jewish ‘lobby’ spewing blood, to say nothing of blonde yummy mummies wearing ‘globalise the intifada’ shirts, I spoke to the artist to share my reaction as a Jewish person. He was instantly aggressive. As soon as I started to say I was shocked and threatened by what I was seeing because it was Nazi imagery, the artist started yelling at me that I didn’t mean anything I was saying. Anytime I tried to speak (calmly) he said: ‘you don’t mean any of what you said, you’re just repeating ‘hasbarah talking points’ because ‘you’re defending a genocide’. On and on he yelled, in my face. I said: ‘if I was a Black person…’ but couldn’t finish the sentence because: ‘you’re not are you?’ On the Nazi ideology point he said: ‘yeah. Why do you think it’s there. Israel are the Nazis’. His breath was disgusting. The crowd began booing and closing in around me, making to shoe me out. I said: ‘fine, get the Jew out’ and he yelled more across the room at me, ‘repeatedly jeering ‘call the police, go ahead, call the police’. I said I would, and the community security trust, which features as a devil in his exhibition. This was met with even more jeering. ‘Yeah, call the CST’ was the last I heard before leaving. Someone snapped pictures of me while I was being shouted at. Short video shows the artist. The longer video, of our final almost surreally disgusting exchange, didn’t record.

I keep hearing the same thing from Israeli officers, and it tells you something real about this war. Over the past few days, I’ve spoken with officers at different levels. Some are very senior. Some are much younger. The same point keeps coming up: their relationship with their American counterparts is unusually close. They are talking about day-to-day work. Calls. Assessments. Fast decisions. Trust built over time and tested now under pressure. In more rooms than people realize, the working language is English. As an Israeli and an American, I notice that. From the outside, most people see the strike, the headline, the statement. Inside the system, alliances are judged differently. They are judged by whether people can speak plainly, understand each other quickly, and work together when time is short and the stakes are high. I’ve spent enough time around decision-makers and military officials to know the difference between a friendly relationship and a working one. What I’m hearing now is about the working kind. That may be one of the most important stories of this war against the IRGC in Iran - and it's proxies.

I’m trying to avoid posting for Lent, but I want to be clear about my position, as it seems we may be on the brink of decisions of historic consequence: The US & Israel were the ones who launched a sneak attack against Iran. Trump himself compared it to the attack on Pearl Harbor. We opened the war with an attack that killed nearly 200 little girls at school. If the Japanese had done that at Pearl Harbor, it would still be on page one of every history book recounting the attack to this day. To then punish the civilian population of Iran by destroying power and water infrastructure, which can only be intended to cause mass civilian suffering and death, simply because they have not capitulated, is a war crime of the highest order. Soldiers, sailors, and airmen are under no obligation to follow such an order, and shame on any officer who orders them to do so.

There was consensus that 2024 was the "podcast election," where Trump's interviews on non-political shows with huge audiences like Joe Rogan, Theo Von, Andrew Schulz, and Shawn Ryan moved the needle in gaining the support of non-MAGA types. Now these same voices are ardently against Trump's Iran war actions, and there are absurd efforts to attempt to diminish the influence and impact of these same shows. The reason Trump's 2024 strategy worked was not to convince MAGA hat wearers to vote for him - those obviously were in already. The reason he went on Rogan and Von and Ryan was to expand the universe of support. Trying to reach independents... and non-political types to get off their couches. Those voices clearly still have massive power, and now they are driving support against Trump and Iran with their large audiences. This focus on "MAGA Republican" support - represented by around 15% of all Americans - is a red herring. These individuals will support Trump no matter what. A key question is whether the coalition that won him 2024 is drifting from Trump over Iran, ahead of crucial 2026 midterms.
