I graduated as a doctor 4 years ago with ~£100k of debt, and despite working up to 72 hours a week, my debt has only increased. Doctors are being paid £17/hour and have to make loan repayments and pay thousands for exams and fees. We are only asking for £23/hour. @wesstreeting

There is a massive scandal within the NHS that the public aren’t being told about. 20,000 NHS doctors aren’t being allowed to become specialists, due to a lack of training jobs for them. These jobs are being centrally restricted by the government. Doctors want to help the NHS, but are being held back from doing so. There is no rational explanation for this. When it takes months to see a specialist, or years to get your operation ask yourself why. It is shocking that 1000s of doctors are out of training jobs, yet the only thing @wesstreeting has proposed is yet another ‘review’. An entire generation of doctors are being tossed aside. Those responsible should be resigning in shame.

I pay for my training. I have over £115k of debt and will pay back over £250k over the course of my career. This doesn’t include the thousands I have to pay for exams and courses during the course of my career. Doctors are worth more than £15 an hour. #DoctorsStrike

The NHS pay really is a joke, I’ll probs delete this tweet but here we go. If I spend 30mins sitting with a family giving them the worst news of their lives that is valued by the NHS at £6.50 If I spend 1hr trying to keep someone who is dying alive that’s £13 for my efforts…

On the eve of another @BMA_JuniorDocs strike, we must acknowledge this is another strike that never had to happen. The government has spent more covering for the strikes than if they had given doctors #payrestoration. Tomorrow, we must stand together. Full Pay Restoration.
