Last time I spoke to the PM, devolution was about whitehall not dictating what areas can or can’t do.

This gets the RoadTrip 2015 scandal very badly wrong:
- The controversial organiser was called Mark Clarke, not Michael Clarke.
- Clarke did *not* commit suicide - a young man named Elliott Johnson did. Shortly before his death, Johnson accused Clarke of bullying *him*.
Given that an innocent young man died, the very least someone writing about it should do is to get his name right and not mix him up with a person he said was his bully.

I promised to take power out of Westminster. I meant it. For the first time ever, we’re giving Mayors a share of income tax so communities have more control over jobs, transport, housing and public services in their area. I know what it’s like to be ignored by politicians in Westminster. I won’t make that same mistake as Prime Minister.

The latest leak is that Burnham is planning a new levy on income, charged at 1.8% of earnings above £6,240 and paid by workers over the age of 34, in order to finance a new so-called national care service.
This is an increase in income tax in all but name and clearly would breach Labour's manifesto commitments.
It's truly amazing that Burnham has concluded that despite excessive levels of tax and spending, what the country needs is yet more tax and spending.
