@minordissent I know my local authority sells the separated recycling to private companies and presumably they manage to make profit out of it. It costs quite a lot for a council to send waste to landfill. It would make no sense for cash strapped councils to add extra steps to that process.

recycling isn't real btw. it all just goes in the landfill. The whole idea was basically just a propaganda effort to make you feel good about yourself so you'll keep consooming product.

If the Gulf Stream collapses, the UK goes into an ice age. It’s already happening. It might just be a few decades before it happens. Arctic sea ice will extend past our shores.

@jimuckmac @Kitty13763421 @daniellismore Except what they posted is true as you could have easily found out if you cared about the truth. Governments working together changed manufacturing rules, those changes reduced CFC emissions, and lower CFCs meant natural processes were able to fix the ozone layer.

@k9cbw @kwrmag @bug_wug @FraserNelson Countries trade most with their nearest neighbours. The UK's economy is more dependant than most on international trade. If we had a similar trading relationship to the EU as, say, Australia, it would massively damage our economy. Brexit could never be a success.

@kwrmag @bug_wug @RicMG99 @FraserNelson Brexit hasn’t actually happened . If we could just be allowed to be like a country that had never been in the EU, things would have been ok. However, both our own twat politicians and the EU insisted on PUNISHING us.

A decade on, Brexit is still shaping UK politics. The data shows a clear trend: the higher the Brexit vote in 2016 the more likely a big Reform UK vote now. My column:- times-comment.com/elections

@k9cbw @FraserNelson It is true that many communities need help, but Brexit was never going to help, in fact it distracted government from helping people and made the country poorer. Farage has helped make their lives worse, and he and his investment banker friends don't even care about them.

@FraserNelson We’re all really completely pissed off that we were ignored, then sidelined and now our vote has been reversed. Not just reversed but made even worse. The millions who voted for freedom and opportunity are basically fucking livid. And then we get anti -Farage activism from you.

@KeruboSk Made me think about going out in the 90s/early 2000s, when pubs and clubs wreaked of cigarettes so much you'd never put fresh clothes on to go on a night out! That called for a semi-clean pile.

Does anyone else with ADHD have a “wear again” pile? Like clothes you wore out for a bit, not long enough to be dirty, but not clean enough to put back, so they just live in a nearby pile for “later”… or is it just me?

@dadthegigachad @OrwellNGoode Managers often don't get paid much more per hour than other staff, and can sometimes have unpaid hours on top doing stock and schedules. A good waiter/waitress doesn't have the management strees, and can often take home more after tips.

@piplilnplinzil @OrwellNGoode I assume as a manager she had to spend all her time behind the scenes running things, and never got a share of the tips. After changing jobs she just looks after customers really well, gets good tips, and avoids the stress of managing somewhere.

@OrwellNGoode Thing is: you still have to waste the same amount of your life´s time at that place. might as well do stuff to distract you. Best job I had was being a driver. Listened to my favourite music all day, driving through the lovely landscape in my own pace.

One of my favorite running gags with Garak is all the (fake) reasons he has for his exile, because some are genuinely harrowing and some are complete BS. You're so depressed about being exiled from Cardassia you abused drugs because... you committed tax fraud. Uh huh

@snr_ICM @rpmculture I think the big trucks with poor visibility are the problem here. If the driver can't see a whole car they won't see children either. I hope you wouldn't count that as 'character development'.

@rpmculture Imagine parking a supercar and coming back to find it has been used as a speed bump by a monster truck. Character development unlocked instantly. This is why expensive taste and public parking don’t mix… the streets will humble you for free.

@DeathsSunrise @archaicf0ssil Apparently the writers did their best to get every main character into every episode possible, even if a single short scene, so all of the main actors got as full residuals as possible.

@archaicf0ssil I don't know if it's true but popular theory is this scene might just exist because Brooks, as the show lead, had a 'I'm in every episode' contract. So the Ferengi just pop in, say hi and then say goodbye.

@noclador Are the people employed supporting the nuclear deterrent programme included in that number of civil employees? If so, are you proposing the UK give up nuclear weapons unilaterally, to use the money on conventional forces instead?

This is very interesting and explains a lot: 🇬🇧 British Armed Forces: 50,000+ civil employees 🇮🇹 Italian Armed Forces: 16,257 civil employees And Italy fields 30,000 more troops than the UK. This explains were a part of the British Armed Forces' budget is being wasted.

@archaicf0ssil The most powerful high profile families and politicians in Cardassia kept that power via the military/Central Command. The Obsidian Order killed more than a few senior military figures who they thought weren't good for Cardassia. Garak carried out some of those assassinations.

The difference between Garak and Dukat is interesting because Garak hates himself for being sentimental the only thing he understands is the authoritarian state he was raised in and fully buys into it meanwhile Dukat is like "why don't the bajorans have a statue of me 🥺"

@akarlin @serenelyjoyful The terms presented by BOTH sides are maximalist, nether can be sane and expect everything they want in any negotiations. If one side (US & Israel) start with maximalist terms, obviously Iran will do the same. Hopefully both sides realise they'll have to make concessions.

The problem is that Iran's demands are absurdly maximalist: * Permanent Hormuz tolls * Reparations * Unblock frozen assets * No restrictions on uranium enrichment * Ceasefire includes Lebanon It's what you would only reasonably demand after a crushing military victory!

@Chad_Athena1371 @engineers_feed You are still thinking of the plane like a car. Car engine turns wheels, treadmill matches, car doesn't move. Jet engines move plane forward, the wheels only turn because of the ground, and the wheelspin doesn't affect the speed of the plane. Plane accelerates and takes off.

@RicMG99 @engineers_feed Correct, but if the wheels are spinning and moving the treadmill then the air craft is no going to be traveling. The treadmill keeps the vehicle static.
