Another #NewPI achievement: the Rich Lab's first poster! Tarun presented his work at the @UConnOUR Fall Frontiers poster session. In such a short time he's gone from learning Python to diving headfirst into bifurcation theory. Lucky to have him as one of my first undergrads!

A #NewPI question for #AcademicTwitter: How do you deal with email communication that is very clearly AI generated? My instinct is that this is a dealbreaker (you need to be able to express your interest in the lab!), but I know this could be overkill with equity implications…

I'm so excited for #CNS2024Natal, my first as a PI😀 I'll be speaking twice: once at a tutorial I'm co-organizing on Cortical Network Dynamics, and again at a workshop on multiscale cortical circuits led by the fantastic @m_depitta. Let me know if you want to catch up in Natal!

I've been quiet here because (breaking news😉) being a #NewPI is hard. But my first semester is done! There's been a mix of accomplishments (submitting my first grant!) and disappointments (that grant getting rejected!), but the net is positive momentum. I view that as a win😀

As a #NewPI reviewing a flawed manuscript, I make sure not only identify the flaws but suggest ways they might be remedied in revision. I'm guessing the length and rigor of reviews decays exponentially with time on the job 🤣 @OpenAcademics @AcademicChatter #AcademicTwitter
