Had a good first meeting this afternoon with @LucyRigby the new Economic Secretary to the Treasury (and ex-Which? - ie Consumers Association not big pointy black hat). Some of the issues I raised were, off the top of my head... My starter investment ISA idea, LISA penalties, high cost of travel insurance for those with mental health issues, improving investment education, the need for better 3rd party access for those with mental health issues, carers allowance, car finance, debt breathing space for those in emergency mental health crisis care and more. As you can probably tell I was wearing both my @MoneySavingExp and @mmhpi hats. While she's new in the post, as she has spent a chunk of her professional life in consumer affairs she had a good knowledge and understanding of the brief and was receptive to ideas, it was a very useful opening chat, with lots to follow up.

Spot on. I am sick to the teeth of how the public health and health and safety Blob is gutting civil society. It is an outrageous infringement on our civil liberties and I cannot wait to turf these busybodies out. They are fundamentally anti-English.

'Cricket banned in Danbury over one rogue ball' Nigel Farage slams local councillors for suspending a 225-year tradition after a single injury incident, calling it 'health and safety madness'. 'Stand for election. Take back control!'

@lfg_uk People like @RosieP4 actually think this is a good thing, and they’d still object to any new houses

The Secretary of State has refused the appeal on Holyport Studios' planning permission! This is a victory for the residents of Holyport and common sense.

@christiancalgie @wandbc @RichCubitt Why can't you drink inside? Why do residents have to put up with all the smoke and shouting? Go INTO the pub. This has never, ever been allowed. Since COVID you Ruperts are just taking the piss. As if drinking a working man's salary in an hour makes you local!

Absolute disgrace from @wandbc here. NIMBY locals ruining the Euros for punters. If residents don’t like it they should get out of central London and move to the countryside. Courtesy @RichCubitt

📢 The General Election has been called! I'll be your fresh, energetic and pragmatic voice for Milton Keynes Central. Our priorities include: 1️⃣Infrastructure before expansion: Yes to investing in our existing residents - NO to Labour’s plan to build 63,000 more houses. 2️⃣Save our Green Spaces: Protect our habitats and keep local consent. 3️⃣Cut taxes and boost jobs: Max opportunities, reward workers and finish East West Rail and turn MK into the heart of a new growth arc. Together, we can make this happen.

@ZacGoldsmith Vitol is not a Russian company, and you gladly accepted the late Ian Taylor's donations when he funded the Conservative Party. What Alan Duncan said may well be reprehensible but please get your facts right.

I hope journalists quiz Alan Duncan on his own *actual & very grubby conflicts of interest. While the world was imposing sanctions on Russia he pushed back hard. Why? He was being paid by Russian energy giant Vitol which is behind one of Russia’s biggest ever oil projects & which would be harmed by sanctions. (It is also one of the most ecologically reckless projects in the world, putting the extremely delicate arctic ecosystem at grave risk.) Duncan reportedly also tried to secure a Knighthood for former Vitol Chairman but was blocked by the Honours Committee which deemed it inappropriate. All very sordid and grubby, as ever.

🔥Extraordinary intervention by Sir Alan Duncan on LBC... Calls for Lord Pollack and Lord Pickles to be "removed from the Lords" for "exercising the interests of another country" "The Conservative Friends of Israel has been doing the bidding of Netanyahu" @LBC
