BREAKING: The Supreme Court betrays the American people by blocking a Biden environmental regulation that prevents harmful pollution from crossing from one state to another. They're helping pumping poison into our lungs and it gets even worse... The court voted 5-4 to side with the Republican-controlled states of Indiana, Ohio, and Virginia as well as powerful industrial interests like gas pipelines who want the regulation blocked to boost profits. The Environmental Protection Agency "good neighbor plan," the regulation in question, applied to 23 states and would have helped eliminate smog in many areas. It aimed to curb nitrogen oxide pollution from industrial facilities and would have stopped "upwind" states from poisoning "downwind" states. The EPA's plan would have avoided countless premature deaths, reduced the number of people visiting emergency rooms, and decreased asthma symptoms. The court argued that since the regulation has already been blocked in a dozen states by lower courts, there is no need to keep any of it. According to the court, Biden administration was unable show "whether the cost-effectiveness analysis it performed collectively for 23 states would yield the same results and command the same emission-control measures if conduct for, say, just one state." Surprisingly, right-wing Justice Amy Coney Barrett sided with the liberal judges in opposing the ruling. She wrote that the block was "based on an undeveloped theory that is unlikely to succeed on the merits." This ruling is a handout to industrial companies and a death sentence for innocent Americans. This is what happens when Republicans control the courts.
