Just Enough It’s been a long time since I’ve been awakened at 3 AM with a specific Bible scripture heavy on my mind. That’s why I believe I must share this moment—because, perhaps, my obedience isn’t just for me. It might be the very blessing someone else needs. For nearly seven years, I poured my whole heart into the Dream Center Foundation. Then, without warning, I was laid off in what felt like retaliation for doing the right thing. I was devastated. Friends who I thought would stand with me seemed to assume I must have done something wrong—adding insult to injury of the injustice itself. And so, I worried. I worried about tomorrow. I worried about my future. I worried that vindication would never come and that cruelty would have the last word. After almost five months of unanswered applications and closed doors, the weight of worry pressed down on my sleep, my health, and my hope. What some might call depression began to creep in. But here’s the truth: God is faithful. His judgments are right and perfect, even when human systems fail. As I chose to love His law more than my own desire for justice, I began to feel comfort again. That’s when He led me to Matthew 6:34: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” That scripture came alive in me through a dream. I found myself surviving an active shooter event and being asked to lead fellow survivors in the Lord’s Prayer. When I woke up, I knew: this was not just about me surviving. It was about leading others into peace in the middle of chaos. And here’s the revelation that rose in me: Life’s daily challenges are like fine ingredients in the hands of a master chef. He uses just enough—never too much, never too little—to bring forth something glorious. The portion of trial you face today has been perfectly measured to develop the overcomer in you. But when we drag tomorrow’s anxieties into today, it’s like dumping too much salt into the recipe. What was meant to nourish ends up bitter. What was designed to strengthen ends up spoiled. So I write this not as a man who has it all figured out, but as one who has wrestled with worry and found God’s wisdom to be true: Don’t overload today with the weight of tomorrow. Each day already carries just enough to shape you into who you’re becoming. And if you let it—if you trust it—today will be enough.
