Today in 1727, the Deacon François de Pâris died in Paris, thus inadvertently kicking off what would become the convulsionnaire movement. I suppose that today is a good day to express some gratitude for everyone who helped me as I completed a dissertation on the subject.

Charleston beyond the museum

From a recent trip to the Charleston Museum. I was particularly moved by those items from Aiken County’s local history—a remarkable collection of pots by Dave Drake as well as weapons used in the Hamburg Massacre of 1876.
