Let's talk about improving our transportation system in Europe! 🌍 The goal of the @IP4MaaS_EU Project was to make our journeys more eco-friendly, smooth, and accessible to everyone. 📱 The heart of project focused on advancing 'Mobility as a Service' (#MaaS) in Europe. What does that mean? 🤔 Well, it's all about using smart digital tools to make getting around easier and more convenient for all of us. The IP4MaaS team put this idea to the test by trying out their #MaaS technologies at six different locations across the EU. Their mission was clear: create and try out a transportation system that lets us travel in different ways while being kinder to the planet. The RIDE2RAIL project made strides in enhancing intelligent mobility solutions. Their goal? To promote the combination of ride-sharing and public transport, especially in rural and low-demand areas. 🚗🚌 🚄 Their recent publication reveals: 1️⃣ RIDE2RAIL developed a new framework that facilitates efficient connections between flexible and scheduled transport services, improving overall mobility. 🔄 2️⃣ They created and tested the Travel Companion and Driver Companion apps, allowing users to plan, book, and execute trips seamlessly. 📲 3️⃣ They identified barriers to ride-sharing adoption, including poor awareness of services, lack of trust, and low flexibility in scheduling. 🚧 Moreover, RIDE2RAIL introduced a recommendation algorithm that learns user preferences over time, offering more personalized travel solutions. 🎯 This work is a significant step towards improving accessibility and efficiency in public transport, especially in areas where these services are limited. 👏 And that's a wrap! @Ride2Rail, the EU project aimed at combining #PublicTransport with ride-sharing, today held its final event in #Brussels 🇧🇪 🌍 The project, launched in 2020 under the helm of UITP, gathered 17 partners from 10 countries, seeking to create solutions that enable passengers to easily combine train, tram or bus with shared mobility modes. 🚉 #RIDE2RAIL integrated multiple data sets and existing transport platforms to make ride-sharing a complementary transport mode that extends public transport and rail networks. 📱 One of the objectives of the project was to further enhance the 'Travel Companion', a travel application developed by the #Shift2Rail Joint Undertaking. 📰 Discover the project successes in our wrap-up news here: uitp.org/news/how-the-r… ___________________ 📸: Final Event, Brussels, 27/04/2023 #ResearchProject | #Rail | #NewMobility | #MaaS | @EURail_JU
