@Hntaigana @CyberRacheal Length and complexity rules actually reduce the number of legal password combinations. If numbers are required then any combination without numbers is excluded…

@CyberRacheal The biggest problem besides frequent change requirements (which I mostly don't see anymore) is insistence on e.g. a mixture of capital and lowercase, numbers, special characters, etc. lazyfoxjumpedoverelephant is a better password than F0x#!67

Password rotation or Forced changes lead to "password hedging," where users just add a number or change one letter (e.g., Summer1! becomes Summer2!). It is biologically impossible for most people to memorize a high volume of complex, random strings every few months, leading to "sticky note" security risks. When security is a hassle, users find dangerous shortcuts, like reusing the same "strong" password across every site they own. The most important fact is that NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology), the global authority on cybersecurity standards, officially retired this method In its Digital Identity Guidelines (SP 800-63B), NIST now explicitly states that organizations "SHALL NOT require" periodic password changes. They’ve shifted the focus to Length over Complexity. They recommend allowing passphrases of up to 64 characters and only requiring a change if there is actual evidence of a compromise.
Cyber_Racheal@CyberRacheal

Password rotation every 90 days actually makes your company LESS secure. Change my mind.

@tchaloyi Incognito works exactly like normal browsing EXCEPT that existing cached data and cookies are ignored, and new browsing data is discarded at the end of the session. That’s all it does!

@tchaloyi I work for an ISP. A stock solution to lots of problems is “clear your browser cache and cookies.” But that can cause different problems. So I tell people to “try it in incognito mode”. If that fixes the issue THEN clear cache and cookies.

Incognito Mode is just a lie you agreed to believe. It’s not doing what you think. 👇🏽👇🏽 Imagine you’re trying to sneak into the kitchen at 2 AM to eat meat from the pot of soup. You turn off the lights, walk on your toes, and leave no drip of soup. To anyone else in the house, it never happened. This is exactly what "Incognito Mode" does. It hides the soup drip from people sharing your house (your phone or laptop). But here is the part that’ll make you scream. While you’re in the kitchen, there’s a CCTV camera recording everything, and the security guard (your ISP-Internet Service Provider) is watching you in 4K. Let’s tell a story. Imagine Bayo wants to surprise his girlfriend with a ring, so he uses Incognito to search for "Diamond Rings." He thinks he’s a ghost. But as soon as he switches back to his normal browser, every ad he sees is for jewellery. Why? The answer is simple. Incognito is not an Invisibility Cloak. When you turn it on, your browser just stops saving your history and cookies locally on your device. That’s it. Your Boss (if you're on office Wi-Fi), the Government, and the companies providing your internet still see every single website you visit. They see the ghost you think you're. It’s like wearing a mask in a room full of people who already know your identity. The mask hides your face from the person standing next to you, but the guy at the door still has your ID on his desk. Just know that Incognito only protects you from your partner seeing your "secrets." To the rest of the world, you’re standing in broad daylight, naked 😊 INALEGWU.

@PriestessCalli @its_The_Dr It’s just the way it’s constructed, usually it’s two pieces of metal riveted together. The rivet needs a hole in the center for the pin pull it closed.

I once did a fabric delivery to an officer. He asked me “what’s the ETA” and I replied “2 hours”. The next thing he said was “I like you. You’re smart” I didn’t understand what he said until I used the same “ETA” line on a friend days later. I had to explain what ETA means.

There is nothing in this world that gets my blood pressure up like trying to communicate with a foreigner in customer service on the phone. I’m so sick of repeating myself and having to ask them to do the same. Hire Americans.

Does anyone remember this fair ride or what it's called? There were no straps... it would spin so fast that it would pin you against the wall. People would vomit. It was fun. 😂

@asmacarthur @Nikuw2137 If you wanted it to make sense, why not make the meter the distance light travels in a vacuum in 1/300000000 of a second? Sure, the units are based on natural constants sledge hammered to fit arbitrary dimensions…

@Nikuw2137 Makes more sense to have the entire Earth speaking English (they are), driving on the same side of the road, using the same standards of measurement defined by natural constants → one meter: The distance light travels in a vacuum in 1 / 299,792,458 of a second

If true, this is a win! Metal detectors are meh, but I usually store my camera bag in a locker anyway.

Tigris at @BuschGardens Tampa no longer has comfort collars! I’m also now hearing RUMORS that this ride will be the next to receive metal detectors. It’s just a rumor for now, but I will keep looking into it, and update back once I hear any confirmation.

@DonHelbig Were there ever 200 stores at Forest Fair? Every time I went there (admittedly not often) it seems they had room for that many, but most of the storefronts were vacant.

Demolition continues at the former Forest Fair Mall in Fairfield, Ohio, once the state’s second-largest shopping center. Closed since 2022, the massive complex that once featured more than 200 stores is being cleared to make way for a new business park led by Hillwood Investment Properties. The redevelopment will consolidate offices, warehouses, and distribution facilities for the Hillman Group.

@RCXcyclopedia Don’t conflate popularity with capacity. The listings are less about ride popularity, especially at parks where rides frequently run at full capacity, than about capacity and reliability. It’s rides given, not rides offered or requested.

Most popular rides at almost every park for ridership numbers are all either B&M Hypers/Gigas, B&M Inverts & wooden coasters. So naturally almost all parks across the world have completely abandoned these 3 types/models of coasters 🤦🏻‍♂️ but please keep building family coasters!

@rankintweets I have in iPad which has meant I don’t need a laptop (since my 2010 MacBook Pro died). I do have a desktop machine (Mac Mini) but I haven’t been able to access it directly since July (hospitalization and subsequent medical issues). The iPad has been a life saver.

@VERTIGRIS_ART It’s because the post box (on mobile) is only as wide as the post, which leaves a convenient space to the right to scroll without opening anything. Except the ad box, infuriatingly, extends all the way to the edge of the screen.

@RCXcyclopedia I have said for years (more than 30, actually) that conceptually this lap bar style really makes a lot of sense, has several inherent advantages to its design, and is an excellent choice while traditional shoulder bars should be contraindicated.

Six Flags Qiddiya City’s world record roller coaster Falcon’s Flight will feature the exact same minimalistic lap bar restraints with no seatbelts as Universal’s VelociCoaster. This really showcases Intamin’s genius design that secures riders and meets ASTM standards for both 70 mph inversion/lateral based + a 155 mph airtime/speed based coasters while allowing riders complete freedom to feel all intended forces.
