Alameda County is moving forward with one of California's broadest reparations plans for Black residents, expanding efforts in housing, education, healthcare, economic opportunity and criminal justice. Instead of writing checks, the Alameda County Reparations Commission's plan outlines structural overhauls, including expanding affordable housing, supporting Black economic development, increasing investments in education and healthcare and enacting criminal justice reforms. County leaders say a newly created reparations committee will now oversee putting the plan into action.
