🚨 MAJOR CRITICISM from Norris and Verstappen. Lando Norris and Max Verstappen slam 2026 F1 overtaking as artificial "yo-yoing". 👉 They blame a lack of driver control over battery deployment for predictable maneuvers. This undermines the authenticity of wheel-to-wheel racing.

🚨 HAAS BOSS DEFENDS COLAPINTO AFTER JAPANESE GP CRASH. 👉 Ayao Komatsu attributes Oliver Bearman's high-speed incident to a DANGEROUS 45KM/H CLOSING SPEED caused by F1's new energy management rules. He calls it a SYSTEMIC CHALLENGE, not driver error, highlighting major safety concerns for the 2026 season.

They are slowly regulating F1 to death. The 2026 rules feel like a test phase, not the pinnacle of motorsport. Drivers saving energy instead of pushing, strategy over pure speed. If racing gets worse, we’ve solved the wrong problem. Are we still racing? #F1 #Formula1

I'm hearing some interesting admissions off the back of Suzuka - namely, that there's a growing awareness within the FIA that the 50/50 split has been the wrong direction. It's understood that, in the short-term, energy deployment limits are being looked at while, longer-term, a change in the ICE vs. electrical split. Getting the drivers and teams in alignment is a hurdle to clear, with the teams not all agreeing with their drivers on the issues, but there is an awareness now that changes are needed. #F1 #JapaneseGP

@thomasmaheronf1 It's too late. Competitors, fans, reporters, commentators hate it. F1 value on the stock exchange and viewership have falled since the first race. Ticket sales next year would also fall. No racing. No overtaking. Why would we watch?!

@AntonioSabatoJr I've been watching F1 since I was six months old. Since then, I've watched 99% of the FP, qualifying, sprint, race. I woke up at dawn, sometimes I didn't even sleep. I watched it on my mobile if I wasn't home. Today was the first race that I didn't even watch, this is not race.

@That80sG They keep coming back saying that viewers are enjoying it. But who are they? Because drivers is dropping drastically. Competitors hate it. Commentators try to present it in a boring tone that it's enjoyable. The problem is, small changes won't make a difference.

"A number of meetings are therefore scheduled in April to assess the operation of the new regulations and to determine whether any refinements are required." There is nothing to examine here, it is clear that not only fine-tuning is needed, but a drastic rewriting of the rules.
Thomas Maher@thomasmaheronf1

The FIA has released a statement following the crash of Oliver Bearman at Suzuka: “Following the accident involving Oliver Bearman at the Japanese Grand Prix and the contribution of high closing speeds in the accident, the FIA would like to provide the following clarifications. "Since their introduction, the 2026 regulations have been the subject of ongoing discussions between the FIA, Teams, Power Unit Manufacturers, Drivers and FOM. By design, these regulations include a number of adjustable parameters, particularly in relation to energy management, which allow for optimisation based on real-world data. "It has been the consistent position of all stakeholders that a structured review would take place after the opening phase of the season, to allow for sufficient data to be gathered and analysed. A number of meetings are therefore scheduled in April to assess the operation of the new regulations and to determine whether any refinements are required. "Any potential adjustments, particularly those related to energy management, require careful simulation and detailed analysis. The FIA will continue to work in close and constructive collaboration with all stakeholders to ensure the best possible outcome for the sport and safety will always remain a core element of the FIA’s mission. At this stage, any speculation regarding the nature of potential changes would be premature. Further updates will be communicated in due course.” #F1 #JapaneseGP

You were warned about what these regulations would be like 3 years ago. It’s an absolute shit show. The drivers are fed up and the fans are fed up. You use off board cameras to hide the flaws with these engines because it’s a bad look, are you really surprised by the outcome?

F1 has been about building some of the biggest challenges in terms of race cars and sure they might have their faults but the cars were still the most sought after, If Max Verstappen is pushed into a retirement, FIA and FOM need to have a look in the mirror because they've failed as the custodians of the sport
