🚨🗣️ | Jamie Carragher on Barcelona choosing Anthony Gordon over Marcus Rashford:
“People will look at Rashford’s goals and assists and say Barcelona should’ve kept him, but football isn’t played on spreadsheets. When you actually watch the games, especially the big games, you understand why Barça have gone for Anthony Gordon instead.
Rashford has talent, nobody’s denying that, but talent alone isn’t enough at a club like Barcelona. In the biggest moments, he’s too unreliable. We saw him miss massive chances in crucial games, and for me, he played a huge part in Barcelona crashing out of the Champions League. At the top level, those moments define seasons.
What Barcelona need right now are players who work for the badge every single minute, and Anthony Gordon gives you that. He presses, he tracks back, he fights for every ball, and he plays with intensity whether it’s the first minute or the 90th. Managers love players like that because they make the entire team better.
The difference between Gordon and Rashford is mentality and consistency. Gordon is a proper team player. He doesn’t sulk, he doesn’t disappear when things get difficult, and he’s willing to do the dirty work for the side. Rashford, on the other hand, can look lazy when things aren’t going his way, and at Barcelona that attitude gets exposed very quickly.
For me, Gordon is the better signing for Barça. He suits the modern game more, he’s more aggressive, more hardworking, and tactically he’ll give the manager far more balance than Rashford ever did.”
@PremLeaguePanel The rot goes back to appointing Tim Steidten and leaving Moyes in place, a manager who point blank refused to work with a Director of Football. Steidten then should have had final say on the new manager but was lumbered with the cheap option Lopetegui.
West Ham are basically a template example of what happens when you get recruitment wrong too many years in a row. The way that they used the Rice & Kudus fees (£160m) is what decided their fate. 2 or 3 good buys (Fernandes, Summerville, Diouf) is not enough especially when you recruit so poorly at CB and striker. Amateurly-ran clubs will get found out in the modern Premier League. West Ham need a change of ownership or else it will be the same story, even if they do get promoted next season.
@Harryhamilton97 If Bowen goes to Liverpool I'd take Harvey Elliott and some cash in return. Taylor-Bellis, Esteve, Scott Twine, Gnonto, and possibly take Vardy on a 1 year contract.
Line up of Hermansen, Scarles, Esteve, Taylor-B, Walker-P, Kante, Elliott, Potts, Summerville, Vardy, Gnonto
Seeing as we’ve gone down let’s have your realistic signings. Don’t be stupid. I’ll start Sammie Szmodics from Ipswich. Will be reasonably priced and I like him, Likes to get on the ball and take a player on. West Ham fan and will cost between £5-10m

The setting, the slightly weird community, the long stares into the horizon, the plot, the edgy music, the over acting, seems familiar #undersaltbroadchurch#undersaltmarsh
@gantshillhammer Good on yer mate. Considering the circumstances, the crowd today are an absolute disgrace. No passion and the opposite of everything Bonzo stood for.
