Johns is accused of firing a single shot into another vehicle during a road-rage incident on the 215 Beltway in November 2025, killing 11-year-old Brandon Dominguez-Chavarria. Johns told police he did not know a child was in the back seat. Prosecutors are pursuing the case under an open murder charge that includes a child-abuse felony murder theory. The defense had asked the judge to reduce the charge, but the request was denied. Johns faces the possibility of life in prison. His trial is set for November 9, 2026.
