What kind of mobile device do you use? Answer below! As it turns out, it's actually pretty important in the context of some of our upcoming wallets. 💡

In 2019 Dash implemented ChainLocks, an innovation which keeps the chain proof-of-work, but uses staked masternodes to lock in the first-seen block and make it irreversible. All Dash transactions are locked by InstantSend and irreversible instantly, and blocks are made permanent. Our friends at @firoorg also use ChainLocks. @decredproject, @zano_project, and others have similar hybrid models, while @eCash and @Zcash are moving towards hybrids. Over time, the hybrid model will become the gold standard for proof-of-work coins.

I made a meta-issue to discuss ways to change Monero to improve its resistance to bad actors. Included are both hard forks *and* less-invasive soft forks which would ideally improve Monero. If you have legitimate, novel ideas, I'll be happy to incorporate them. Link vvv

@realericmoutsos I assume his and his loved one’s lives have been threatened. He has no real choices in his office. Nobody in his office does , most likely.

To all the really bad people, stupid people, weaklings, and now troublemakers who want transparency, what do you make of this?

@RionGull - great comment : Context: Vitalik's blockchain trilemma mentioned "decentralization" as part of the trilemma. The comment: Decentralization shouldn't have been on that triangle because it's only a means to an end. @Justin_Bons replies - agrees decentralization is not the actual goal. The goal is freedom, censorship-resistance. Me: completely agree with both of you! @cppo_defi: wish I could chat about the "trilemma". In my view, it was an attempt to rephrase the problems in the Impossibility Theorems in Section 2 here. You can't actually take on the Impossibility Theorems head-on. Great conversation, have to hop off!

@evilduck92 Most of the world’s best workers (CEOs, entrepreneurs, builders, etc) are working for corporations, not DAOs. Why? I think it’s more of a structural problem with DAOs, honestly. But I agree that the DAO voters need to fix the issue, so they’re ultimately responsible.

I don't think this is so much a problem of DAOs, it's a problem with the individual people taking part in it. You have the same issue with a standard corporation. If the shareholders don't evaluate their options well and vote intelligently the company doesn't do well. Dash has had this issue, but I think that's a reflection on the voters. Especially early ones that had probably never taken part in such a system before.

The problem with DAOs is that they haven’t figured out how to employ people at scale. Most people work for the government (non-DAOs) because DAOs aren’t hiring (the free market isn’t hiring).

Like it or not, if you work for an organization that pays you in government money (e.g. USD - 99.9% of the globe) you work for the government.

@GeorgeGammon Right now it just produces payment infrastructure. It doesn’t produce goods. That’s the problem.

@GeorgeGammon Of course it is. The main thing wrong with it is most crypto people don’t have a clue about economics. You could help, by the way.
