Hard to believe there’s high school baseball programs where they don’t have a preseason scrimmage or use the full allotted time during offseason workouts.

HS coaches: If you spent the season frustrated by the skill level of your players. What’s the plan to specifically address those things this offseason. Easy to expect the kids to do it, but for many that’s not realistic. So we can work to address those now or complain next year

Coaches: If athletes are bored at practice or seem to be lacking focus...It's most likely that your practice plan/style needs to step up.

Success will test your ego: Failure will test your character. Most athletes want one and avoid the other… But the ones who make it? They learn how to handle both. Stay consistent. Trust the process.

A lot of high school players will think the hard work is done since the season is finally here. When in reality it’s even more demanding physically, mentally and with your time. The weight room is still a must, reps in cage or on field outside a practice is a must.

One of my favorite teachers of all time, Mr. Findley of showed me this video in business class in high school. That weekend I hit a home run and he and his family were at the game as they were coming back from visit from lake. When I was walking back to dugout we both said “and boom goes the dynamite.” Still think about him making connections outside school to get me to buy in. A lot of what he did in the classroom to foster a great environment for students is what I try to create now. Wherever he is l, hope he knows those little things I still carry today.

On March 22, 2005, ‘Boom goes the dynamite!’ was coined by Brian Collins on Ball State University’s student newscast. Filling in for the regular sportscaster, Collins was forced to ad-lib when a teleprompter error caused the script to skip ahead, resulting in the now-viral moment

Coaches swinging a fungo is an art form. You can tell who has master their craft and who hasn’t by how they swing it.
