Honoured to be on DD News discussing #APAARID & #AcademicBankOfCredits under #NEP2020. These reforms represent a structural shift from a linear, institution-centric model to a modular, credit-based and learner-driven ecosystem—where knowledge is accumulated, transferred and validated across time and space. By enabling multiple entry-exit, academic mobility and interdisciplinary pathways, they align India’s education system with global frameworks while strengthening transparency and digital governance. Significantly, this vision resonates with the Indian Knowledge System, where learning has traditionally been holistic, continuous and personalized—as seen in the Gurukul ethos. Thus, APAAR & ABC are not merely administrative innovations but a synthesis of digital public infrastructure with India’s civilizational philosophy of lifelong learning—paving the way for an inclusive, flexible and future-ready academic architecture. @PMOIndia @rashtrapatibhvn @VPIndia @EduMinOfIndia @DDNewslive @dpradhanbjp @MIB_India @AmitShahOffice @rajnathsingh @ugc_india @jmiu_official

Today, I was invited as an expert panelist on DD Urdu to deliberate on the evolving crisis in West Asia. I argued that contemporary conflicts have transcended conventional interstate wars; they are embedded in identity politics, shaped by shifting geopolitical alignments, and perpetuated through sustained external interventions. The West Asian theatre underscores the deeply interconnected nature of regional conflicts and their global reverberations. For India, this necessitates a nuanced strategy anchored in strategic autonomy, multi-alignment, and the primacy of sustained diplomatic engagement over militarized responses for any meaningful and durable peace. @PMOIndia @rashtrapatibhvn @VPIndia @EduMinOfIndia @dpradhanbjp @ugc_india @DDNewslive @rajnathsingh @jmiu_official #WestAsia #InternationalRelations #Geopolitics #Peacebuilding #IndiaForeignPolicy

JMI Registrar Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi Awarded ICSSR Major Research Project on Pasmanda Muslims and National Integration in Viksit Bharat; study to highlight their historical and cultural connections with broader civilizational traditions of Bharat   New Delhi, March 16, 2026   Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, has been awarded a prestigious Major Research Project on Pasmanda Muslims and their role in national integration in the vision of Viksit Bharat by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR).   The research examines the historical background, cultural roots, linguistic foundations, and socio-political realities of Pasmanda Muslims, a large but historically understudied section of India’s Muslim population. Pasmanda Muslims are estimated to constitute nearly 80–85 percent of the Muslim population in India, yet their social conditions and contributions to the country’s cultural and social fabric have often received limited academic attention.   The project seeks to highlight the deep historical and cultural connections between Pasmanda communities and the broader civilizational traditions of Bharat. It explores similarities with different communities in India in customs, rituals, everyday traditions, linguistic practices, and occupational roles. By doing so, the research challenges the widely prevalent perception of Muslims as a monolithic bloc and instead brings attention to the diversity and indigenous roots within Indian Muslim society.   The research will examine how contemporary government initiatives and development-oriented policies aimed at benefiting all households, irrespective of religious or caste identities have impacted Pasmanda communities in recent years.   The study will also explore how recognizing the shared cultural and historical roots of Pasmanda Muslims with other backward and marginalized communities in India can contribute to greater social harmony. By highlighting their socio-cultural linkages and developmental aspirations, the research aims to examine pathways for strengthening national integration and communal harmony in Bharat.   The award of this project reflects the growing importance of research on inclusive development, social justice, and national integration in the context of India’s evolving socio-political landscape. It is also seen as a major academic achievement for JMI, reinforcing the university’s commitment to research that addresses key societal challenges and contributes to the broader vision of Viksit Bharat.   Prof. Mazhar Asif, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, JMI also congratulated Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi for securing the major project on this very important area of research.   Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi thanked the ICSSR for the project grant and said that he was looking forward to making a significant research contribution to this key area of contemporary socio-political study in India.   Prof Saima Saeed Chief Public Relations Officer, JMI

It was an honour to host Shri Arif Mohammad Khan ji, Hon’ble Governor of Bihar at Jamia Millia Islamia on the auspicious occasions of “Constitution Day” and 5th Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan Memorial Lecture. Paying tribute to the timeless legacy of the “Frontier Gandhi”. 🙏🇮🇳 Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan was the soul of the freedom movement from the frontier—merging courage with compassion and resistance with non-violence. His Khudai Khidmatgar movement redefined nationalism as service—building schools, promoting women’s rights, eradicating social discrimination, and strengthening communal unity. A firm opponent of Partition, he believed that the dignity, security and progress of Indian lay in an undivided, inclusive and democratic Bharat. His vision of qaum was civilizational, not communal; his politics ethical, not divisive. Today, his legacy stands as a powerful reminder that true nationalism is rooted in harmony, justice, human dignity and the spirit of One, United Bharat. Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan demanded that Pashtuns be given the choice to form an independent state called Pashtunistan. After the partition, he continued to oppose the "One Unit" program, which merged provinces into West Pakistan, and spent years in jail or exile for his demand. Hon’ble VC, Prof. Mazhar Asif also delivered presidential address. @PMOIndia @AmitShah @rashtrapatibhvn @VPIndia @dpradhanbjp @EduMinOfIndia @GovernorBihar @rajnathsingh @ugc_india @jmiu_official

Office of the Chief Public Relations Officer, JMI Press Release VC and Registrar, JMI strongly condemn Red Fort car blast; Call it an attack on national security and the conscience of the nation  New Delhi, November 14, 2025 Vice Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), Prof. Mazhar Asif and Registrar, JMI, Prof Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi, strongly condemned the November 10, 2025 car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort calling it a "dastardly and heinous act of terror" perpetrated to target innocent citizens and threaten national security.  Prof. Asif, expressing his shock and grief at the act that has shaken the entire nation said,  "Such acts of terror go against the very values and principles that this great nation and our rich civilization has long upheld, the values of --- peace, harmony and unity.  This message has been disseminated throughout the world by Indian philosophers and thinkers since ancient times, particularly by our Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji.  In this moment of crisis, JMI stands firmly with the Government of India in it's 'unwavering commitment to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations'  as we extend our deepest condolences to the families of those who lost their lives on that ill-fated and sad day". Prof. Asif added, "Such heinous acts of terror and mindless bloodshed will reinforce and strengthen our determination to serve the nation with greater resolve and patriotism, in a moment in history when India is being seen as a shining example of non-violence and peace in the world". Prof. Rizvi condemning and denouncing the Red Fort car explosion said, "Such an inhuman, unfortunate and deeply troubling act is an assault not only on the fundamental ethos of this great nation but also a full-blown attack on India's national security. It undermines the safety and security of each and every citizen of this country. At a time when the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji and the Government of India are working tirelessly to unlock the potential of India's young population and capitalise on our human resource by focusing on the youth and refurbishing the higher education institutions of the country, such chilling and mindless acts sadden us beyond words. Besides, violence has no place in civilized society". Prof Rizvi added, "We are with the Government of India during this difficult time, and JMI will continue to strengthen peace and harmony in order to overcome these challenges. However, such setbacks will only serve to bring us closer together and we will emerge as a stronger and more resilient nation that remains undeterred in the face of such attempts to impede our progress and development". It was matter of privilege to attend the concluding function & deliver the valedictory address at the 105th Anniversary Celebrations of Jamia Milia Islamia, today. It gave me great personal satisfaction to note that on my 3rd visit to the University, it was Indian languages ruling the roost— something that I had been persistently pushing for since my first visit to the Campus. Addressed the gathering in Hindustani-Urdu and urged the Management, Faculty & Students of the University to commit themselves to the goal of #ViksitBharat@2047, as envisioned by Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi Ji.
