Lisa Domski worked for nearly 38 years at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan when the company implemented its COVID-19 vaccine requirement during the pandemic. She requested a religious exemption, explaining that as a devout Catholic she believed the vaccines in question were connected to fetal cell lines used in their development or testing, which she felt conflicted with her faith. Even though her role was fully remote and did not require in-person contact with others, her exemption request was denied, and she was ultimately terminated. A federal jury in Detroit later ruled in her favor, finding that the company had engaged in religious discrimination. The jury awarded a total of $12.69 million in damages, including $10 million in punitive damages, with the remainder covering lost wages and emotional distress. The company stated it stands by its policy and is reviewing its legal options. Meanwhile, her attorney is reportedly representing about 170 other former employees with similar claims that are still moving through the courts. #ReligiousFreedom #EmploymentLaw #WorkplaceRights #CivilRights #COVID19Policy #BlueCrossBlueShield #LegalCase #JuryVerdict #LaborLaw #HealthcarePolicy
