So this rule explicitly demands situational awareness for both parties, but Illegal Bodychecking doesn't.

Just like the Charbonneau hit, Edwards could not possibly have seen it coming. Where Gash's shoulder hit Edwards is absolutely not the point.

@GraemePerrow @stopeatingfaces I think it was Hartley's charging, and Gash's positioning. Gash didn't take as many steps, and turned and dropped before the moment of contact. But you're right - Edwards had no idea what was coming.

@stopeatingfaces @GraemePerrow That was my initial thought, as well. Gash dropped low and turned to absorb the contact. But Edwards also had no idea what was coming. Reading the rule book, a minor for "illegal bodychecking" seems appropriate.

@GraemePerrow It's a tough situation. It's a physical game and you need to be allowed to separate player from ball. I don't know how many steps Gash took to deliver the hit, but it didn't look like was charging but was more a hit of opportunity. I didn't think it was even a minor.
