Unfortunately, through no fault of his own, he is now looking for a new home. This has been a very difficult decision for his current owners, so we kindly ask that there be no negative comments. Blue is approximately 2 years old (an exact date of birth can be provided). His mum was an English Bull Terrier and his dad an Olde English Bulldog. He is a loving and affectionate dog who has always lived with a child. However, as he can sometimes be quite boisterous, we feel he would be best suited to a home with children aged 10 and over. Blue enjoys cuddles, relaxing on the sofa, and getting out for his walks. He also loves to play and spend time with his people. When out walking, he is able to pass other dogs calmly and maintain focus on his handler when given treats and guidance. Without direction he can become overexcited and struggle to cope with his surroundings, so he benefits from clear input and structure to help manage his excitement and frustration. Blue has always been the only dog in the household and has not had much off-lead interaction with other dogs. For this reason, he is currently looking for a home where he can be the only dog. That said, with continued socialisation and slow introductions, we believe he may be able to be around other dogs in the future. Blue has not been around cats or small animals, so he will need a home without them. He displays many typical English Bull Terrier traits, so we would ideally like to find him a home with someone experienced with the breed, as they can be quite strong characters and are not for the faint-hearted. Personality; Roxy is an extremely friendly girl, who loves her cuddles. She copes well with being blind. She LOVES her food, so needs to make sure that she doesn't have access to help herself to any food or treats. Left alone; We think she will be ok to left alone for up to 6 hours. House training; She is a very clean girl. Travelling; Travels well. 🏃‍ Exercise; Roxy is very active, so would love going on regular walks. Adopter requirements: Anyone with Akita or large breed experience would be ideal. You don't necessarily need prior experience of blind dogs, but have lots of kindness and empathy to care for Roxy correctly. Keeping your home layout the same is a great way to help her settle in. Home/garden needs; A private, secure garden. Minimum age of children; 14 years +. Dog/Cat suitability: We think she would be best as on only pet, but could possibly live with an older, calm, neutered male dog. Is it unknown how she is with cats. Medical issues; Roxy is completely blind due to uveodermatological disease, and has had her eyes surgically removed (to stop them causing her any future pain). The uveodermatological disease will not be able to be covered by pet insurance, so any potential adopters need to be aware of this, and she is likely to need a small dose of steroids to maintain the condition of her skin.
