Please write to your MP. Vets are not required to report how many healthy pets they put to sleep for owners or councils, so figures don't exist. If your area has seen an increase in abandonment and your local rescue shelters are full, that is all the evidence you need. A council can kill a dog after just 7 days if local shelters are full.
