So the last thing to look forward to is the World Cup.” Yunus Musah admits his dream is to play in the 2026 home World Cup with USMNT after a tough season with Atalanta. He’s on loan from AC Milan. “It’s been a tough season, not going the way I wanted,” Musah said. “So mentally, it's been tough to get through it. I expected to play a lot more and stuff. “But I've always had the World Cup at the back of my mind, so that's been something that, like, having that at the end of the season, you're like, ‘I'm gonna keep going and keep fighting to the end.’ “Because this is something that could happen now, it’s something big in the summer. “So you don't let go, because there's something to work for. There's something there that you're trying to aim for, and that's been something that's helped me get through the season. “Here in Atalanta, obviously things haven't really gone my way or anything. So the last thing to look forward to is the World Cup. “So every time you're in that training session or after the game that you haven't played, and you have to do the extras, and you have to do this and that, it is not really the fun stuff. “Then you’re in your head, you're like, ‘Let me try my best, and try to improve what I can improve, and be ready in case you're called up.’” Musah made 26 appearances for Atalanta this season but only started six times. He also hasn’t played for the USMNT since March of 2025 in the Nations League. After reportedly declining the Gold Cup call-up, it seems like Musah is no longer in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
