Lot of smoke but can’t find the fire. With two picks in this 1st round and their decision to have George Pickens play on the tag versus work out a long term deal, this might be one of the more interesting #Cowboys drafts in awhile. Just talked with someone close to the situation and apparently Dallas was actually very competitive in the Nakobe Dean market. He was one of their 5 zooms allowed. I’m told their offer was similar to the Raiders but ultimately he went with his gut feeling but was told he could have seen himself in both places and it was “51/49” margin but Raiders won this one. At least tells you Dallas is trying 🤷🏼‍♀️

When it comes to paying Pickens and keeping three $20+ million DTs on the team, I keep seeing people ask, "How will the Cowboys afford it?" To better understand this, we must keep in mind the following: 1. There's over $100 million owed to Diggs & Steele over the next three years that they're not likely to pay out. 2. Over $24 million in dead money hits from Martin, Lawrence, and Gallup will be off the books. 3. They don't have any other high-priced free agents they need to take care of. Their two biggest free agents are a running back and a kicker, both of whom are affordable. Of course, the Cowboys will also restructure deals as all teams do to stay under the cap, but when it comes to budgeting the roster as they often do, it's clear that it's very doable.

A little bit.” Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer on not starting Diggs: “We’re talented. He’s been banged up a little bit. I’ve been a little tough on Trevon, just in terms of the consistency and things like that. But, man, I thought he played really well. I’m proud of him. It’s a similar type thing with other guys. I mean, it wasn’t just us picking on Trevon. Trevon is a hell of a player. Trevon is a huge part of what we’re trying to do.” Jerry Jones when asked if Diggs’ usage in the game was more about his health or moving on to playing other guys: “There’s no moving on to other guys.
