Good public policy deserves to be applauded.
In December @MBGov announced an expansion of newborn screening to include screening for congenital cytomegalovirus.
Screening for CMV is a process supported by @Medtech_Canada members - more can be done - but for today, kudos!

Appreciation to the @EdmontonChamber, sponsored by @ABBlueCross, for hosting Ministers @Richard4Alberta, @AdrianaLaGrange, and me to speak about Alberta’s health care system.
Health care is more than a public service. It is a competitive advantage for our province, and we are committed to building a system that supports long-term health and prosperity.

We’re investing $2 million, matched by the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation, to plan an expanded inpatient tower and a new research centre.
The Alberta Children’s Hospital expansion will add 40 acute care beds, 10 mental health beds, and a Centre for Research & Innovative Care.
Once complete, the project will expand capacity and help keep Alberta at the forefront of medical research.

Albertans deserve to see, in plain language and real numbers, how their health system is actually performing.
That’s why we are launching a new Health System Dashboard: an online tool that gives Albertans clear, up to date information on wait times, outcomes and access to care in their own communities. It will show where we are delivering results and where we need to do better, so there is real accountability and transparency.
We are starting with surgical information, including comparisons across facilities provincewide. Step by step, Albertans will be able to see the full picture of how their health system is working for patients.
