@AndrewWarner @Montebello @nevmed 1988. That’s when I started my guitar journey. 35 years later I still play every day, still suck, still can’t sing anywhere near a tune but love every moment of practice. My family and neighbours cannot say the same ;). Keep going.

I was going to sell my guitar and stop trying. After a year of lessons, I still couldn't play and sing at the same time. I was starting to feel like a fool for wasting my time. A few weeks ago, I happened to mention to my buddy @Montebello that I was giving up. He told me that lots of people struggle to play and sing at the same time. He showed me a few things he taught other newbies. And said it's a common hump I have to work my way over. So I kept going. I'm still not a good player. But I can finally sing and play at the same time. I picked a pair of beginner songs: Ain't No Sunshine and Knockin' on Heaven's Door. And I'm having fun again. Somehow knowing that a problem is common makes it easier to overcome.
