@GeringerAdam @CohenSite @iamhodge @BigGayElonMusk @BurtRock69 @Wappy_x It’s not, actually. Source: landlord. For all of my leases, tenants are in default five days after the 1st, and can move to eviction proceedings just a few days after that. I would *never* do this unless a tenant was chronically late or causing other problems, but you can legally

Someone requested to book my airbnb for over a year ($100k) and everyone is telling me to go with a normal lease cuz it’s probably a scam but I’m thinking it would be better to have airbnb involved if it was a scam

Raising corporate taxes may partially increase consumer prices, as studies show consumers bear about 64% of the burden in industries like gasoline. However, workers and shareholders also absorb costs through lower wages and returns, so the middle class isn't fully impacted. Taxes on high-income individuals are direct and unlikely to raise consumer prices, with no significant trickle-down effects. Unlike tariffs, which often directly raise prices, corporate tax impacts are shared, and high-income taxes don't follow this pattern. The effect varies by industry and economic context.

@minobenjo @witchof0x20 1. Russians, Chinese and Europeans were launching their own networks. 2. The military couldn’t get enough secret receivers, and wanted to be able to use commercial ones. 3. The economic benefits of high-precision location data exceeded the military value of denying it.

TIL GPS satellites used to have deliberate noise introduced, and it was turned off in 2000. I immediately thought "oh i bet the noise was rng(secret, timestamp) and the DOD had the secret so they could denoise it" That's *exactly* what they did

@MargoinWNC @kyledcheney I think what they’re saying here is that her family got paid and kept it a secret from their attorney, in an attempt not to pay him. Which would be on brand.

@wendyp4545 They don’t? If my insurance lapses, my mortgage company will immediately take out a policy at my expense. No lienholder is going to allow a property to not be insured while it’s being used as collateral on a mortgage.

Question: How is it that the banks that hold the mortgages in California just allowed everyone to go without homeowner insurance? How does that make ANY sense?

@Carn1vorous @gunsnrosesgirl3 Nothing is added to the water, it’s that a. It’s getting dumped into a tank where sediment carried in the water can settle, and b. The water is being heated to near boiling, or sometimes above, near the heating element. You can see the same thing if you have a glass kettle.

Some asked what could have been done differently in LA - I do lunges for a living and even I can figure this out: 1. Have existing reservoirs filled. If repairs are needed do them during rainy season or after new ones are built. 2. Build the new reservoirs Californians voted to fund in 2014 - not one is complete. 3. Stop using tax payer dollars to fund crazy sh!+ like drug kits to the homeless and fund desalination plants. 4. Increase funding to the fire department - don’t cut it. 4. Do prescribed control burns! 5. Create fire breaks. 6. Divert the water for the smelt fish back to urban areas. - when the fire retardant and fire waste washes into the ocean those fish are screwed way worse. 6. Get nut farmers out of Cali and into another state. It takes 1.1 gallons of water to grow an almond. 7. Make sure during fire season the mayor is in LA so someone can declare a federal emergency - this way the navy choppers that drop water could have been deployed immediately. Not days later. 8. Call in the National guard before all of LA is on fire and being looted. 9. Force the privately owned utility companies to update their 100 year old equipment so it doesn’t fail and start fires and kill people and animals. 11. Recall Gavin Newsome.

@Sentdex Dropping 10 gallons at a time from 30 drones is not the same as dropping 300 gallons in one shot from one helicopter. 10 gallons of water dropped a million times isn’t going to extinguish a wildfire.

Watching $8M helicopters dropping 300 gallons of water with hero pilots has me wondering why this isn't done with drones. 300 gals of water can be dropped from drones like 30 T40 ag drones @ a cost of $600K w/ no pilot life risk + more precision. Why not drones?

Trump reiterated this morning on Meet the Press that he intends to end birthright citizenship. When told the 14th Amendment says all persons born in the US are citizens, he said, “Well, we’re going to have it changed. We have to end it.”

@JoshPhillipsPhD @BSHerrle @1thirstypretzel @RonFilipkowski How would this apply differently to, say, an illegal immigrant and someone here on a multi-year work visa? From the perspective of their home country, both are still subjects of their home country. Even naturalized citizens rarely have to renounce their birth citizenship.

Correct. But there’s a separate clause in the 14th: “All persons born in the United States, and not subject to any foreign power” The question is “are these individuals also subjects of their home country” I have no idea what the answer is. But it’s clearly a debate among legal scholars
