My brother Joe just sent the family a photo of my dear mother. For some reason it reminded me of how she hated that i gave up my "education and 1st career" to get into golf maintenance. One of the perks of our job eventually got me access to the Masters, and every year I would call home from the free phones at the "toonamint". She and I would have a good laugh about me being at Augusta because I was a Supe. She knew I had a passion for golf course work. She also very clearly thought I should be doing something more meaningful with life. She was a powerful influence on me and my entire family. She has not been with us for quite a while and her birthday was last week. I remember the first Masters after her death I went to the free phones and asked the operator if they could place call for Mrs. Mary Reilly in heaven. The operator and I had a nice laugh and of course I had a Jimmy V day at the National. What I wouldn't give for another phone call, debate, embrace, or anything with the great, powerful, and iconic Mary Reilly. Say it wit me: LOVE YOU MA.

Watched him and John Daly play a practice round at Bay Hill moons ago. I think Daly had won the PGA the year before. But to golf fans JD was more of a freak show then a mega star at that point. Daly hit a 100 yd draw over the cul-de-sac parallel to the course right of the fwy on 15 to like 80yds in the middle of fairway. Delsing grab an iron to play the dog leg #15 like a normal human. Then he hit Daly's Whale driver just for shits-n-giggles for like ten of us. Very cool.

Florida cold today and for some reason that's a special kind of bone-cold I can never quite figure out. Anyway it doesn't stop me from my daily breather with the team 10. It struck me today that meditation seems very acceptable. But I also pray when I am in the labyrinth. Like Mr. Rogers I pray for specific people. That may seem overly religious but for me it is spiritual and very necessary for my daily sobriety. I have to cop to one thing: when it is an important day for me I seem to pray particularly hard for others. I am not so sure that is my genuine intention but that is for sure what I do. Today is an important day for me so if you got an extra prayer for this monkey let it fly. Happy Friday y'all from dark and cold paradise.
