@cping10 @RealDanZak Don't need to. Have had plenty of personal, professional, and sports successes by treating people well and pushing them to be better without being a psychopath. Ignoring the vast amount of evidence that you don't have to scream at people to get good results is funny.

I asked Dan Hurley the same question I asked Tom Izzo: why does the media have a problem with coaches coaching players hard? Hurley: "Society has gotten soft in a lot of ways... The real world is tough and cruel... I'm preparing my players for life."

@usmntonly It's not Xenophobic to want a team fully of players with a similar level of passion for the ultimate objective, it's good management. This isn't a club team where you looking for results over a long season, it's team that needs to come together quickly with a unified purpose.

“The whole conversation gives me the ick. It’s borderline xenophobic. Get a grip. There are countries, and the U.S. is one of them, who will put a rifle in your hand if you’re willing to defend the country. But if you’re gonna put on a soccer jersey, you better be all in on my team, I better have you feel those colors, buddy. Give me a break.” "You know who the most talented player in the 2014 pool was? It wasn't Landon Donovan, it wasn't Clint Dempsey, it wasn't Tim Howard. It was Fabian Johnson. That dude was a baller." "You know who recruited Jermaine Jones? It was Bob Bradley. I've had conversations with Bob about how diverse our national team was in 2010. A team is about the best players who can be together collective to attain a goal." @herculezg on some of the discussion surrounding dual nationals for the USMNT 🎙️🇺🇸 @MenInBlazers

@txsalth2o Sleep in separate rooms, it's a wonderful life changer. I'm the snorer and felt bad about it for years, now we both sleep better, like each other more, and haven't had any real problems with it. Also found out that a number of other happily married couples we know do the same.

@gummibear737 Honestly, the BBC World Service is still a fairly consistent and relatively unbiased source of day-to-day information. They certainly lean European left, but a lot of the news briefs and interviews on the World Service are fair and straightforward.

@ConnorHapper I could get behind it, but I want the entire court rim to be the different "site" color. I hate the blue NCAA with the splash of site color. Do the logo a different color in the middle too.

@glenn_kinley There is just no reason for CBS to give him such a high profile spot. -He has an awful background personally and ethically -There are tons of more deserving options -He's controversial in the sport and politically -He's got obvious biases -He's not that good on TV -He's a bad man

@golz_tv The coaching license hierarchy around the world is a money grab, plain and simple. -It often makes coaches worse, not better. -Creates a barrier for good coaches without resources -Passes the costs to the players/families -Doesn't have a record of actually improving outcomes

USMNT legend Tab Ramos has called out coaching in American youth soccer 🗣️ He believes due to various circumstances, coaches are making things too complicated for young players— which ultimately harms them instead of helping them develop. “I was able to coach youth soccer outside of the national teams for a period of about 10 years,” Tab began. “Unfortunately nowadays, the game has gotten so complicated, the pyramid of soccer in this country has gotten so complicated that it's very difficult for coaches.” “By the way, it's a really big effort to get your C license, your B license, and your A license. It's an effort. It takes a lot of time. It takes a lot of money. And so now these coaches are going to go back to a club, you know, after spending all this money on their coaching education, those coaches have to get paid.” “And in order to get paid, you have to sort of not only teach the players, but you have to kind of put on a show of all of the things that you learn.” “So now I get to the complicated area. Because now what if you hired me in California? Here I am. I'm the former U.S. Soccer technical director and under-20 national team coach for four World Cups, and I have my pro license, and you bring me in and I take your players, because you just hired me to coach your team, because I'm this incredibly knowledgeable guy. And I come in and I just do small sided games with your players.” “The parents of the kids on your team are gonna be sitting around and going, ‘Wait, why are we paying for this?’ But this is what happens.” “See, I would have enough confidence to go there and do that. But the problem is that every coach in the country has to respond to a technical director.” “And because of that, they have to put on this very, you know, difficult training session that's in sequence from your activation, to your small five v two, to your small sided possession, to then the body of your work, to then the tactical to then the big game, right? You got to go through the whole thing.” “They have to do that. And the reason they have to do that is because their technical director is under pressure.” “Because for the technical director to have his club in this league, the ECNL, or whatever, you need to have all of these standards.” “And because of those standards, now the technical director is forced to hire someone who can do all these things.” “Well, at the end of the day, there's all these standards and all these things going on. And who's not benefiting is the player, because the player would benefit more from things being simple, right?” “And of course, it's only my opinion, but I think I've gotten enough experience. Forget the playing side. I've gotten enough experience on the coaching side at all levels, from youth national teams to coaching in MLS at Houston Dynamo to say, ‘Okay, let's put the brakes on this. Our training sessions are getting too complicated. How about let's go back to the beginning, right?’” “That's what matters. This is how players learn the most. And of course, every once in a while you have to have your tactical sessions, and your exercises, where you have the certain patterns to goal, and like I get all of that.” “Of course, we all know that stuff. But the simpler we make it, the more we put players in game like situations and one v one, the better.” [via Sports Recruiting USA]

@xx_xyathletics Now let's see them make this argument with blackface. Apparently it's ok to gender pretend, but not race pretend. Also, the logic here is terrible. If you stop me from abusing you in this one way, then you have to let me abuse in every other way. No intelligence; all politics.

Malcolm Gladwell says if males agree to stop invading women’s sports, in response females must accommodate all the other demands of the trans movement. Once again, a man telling women they must consent to other men’s demands for their private spaces AND VERY IDENTITY. How about we stop accommodating mental illness at the expense of women & girls @Gladwell ? You may be intelligent, but your moral compass is sadly broken.

Tonight, there will be no Pinwheel logo at mid-court of the Big Ten Tournament. But now, with all 18 teams playing in the conference tourney, it MUST return. A @redditCBB user proved an 18-team Pinwheel CAN be done, and done so BEAUTIFULLY. Bring the Big Ten Pinwheel BACK.

@AzadehKhatibiMD Do you think the Kurds should have their own country made up of parts of Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Turkey if those countries ever agreed to it (they never will). Or are you more in favor of them having autonomous regions in each country but not their own nation?

As an Iranian-American who’s part Kurdish and produced an award-winning narrative feature film about Kurdish fighters and the Yazidi genocide (SINJAR), I know Kurds have a warrior spirit--we’re very proud of that. BUT just because Kurds fight hard doesn’t mean they have a right to force separatism onto other others, including Kurds living in Iran. But that's their agenda. @realDonaldTrump and @netanyahu must NOT arm any separatist Kurdish forces, or else they risk war, resentment and instability for years in the region. Instead, we need to incentivize people to unify and promote peace in Iran through socio-economic incentives for them and their children. @SecRubio @SecWar

@dkwillabus You just described indoor soccer and it was one of the hidden gems of sports. Extremely fun to play and watch. A shame it has never really caught on. It's like the best aspects of soccer, hockey, and basketball combined.

How to make soccer more entertaining with 2 simple rule changes: 1) unlimited subs 2) on the fly subs Players would not have to worry managing energy, allowing for a faster pace and more pressure defending. Subbing on the fly keeps the game moving.

@david_shane Many aspects of prohibition probably would have succeeded if the hardline proponents didn't go so far overboard on everything. Things were REALLY bad leading up to prohibition and most of the public was for many aspects of it.

The 7-11 in downtown East Lansing just seems to be a magnet for criminal trouble (like, every night). Asked an officer why. It's open 24-hours and it has alcohol, he said.

This is why we need more high-major vs. strong mid-major games. Some people seem to forget the gap between the great mid majors & high-major bubble teams is very small, if a gap exists at all. ESPECIALLY when it comes to a single-elimination tournament.

Bruce Pearl on 29-0 Miami (OH): "If we're selecting the 68 best teams, then Miami (Ohio) is going to have to win their tournament to qualify as a champion. Because as an at-large, they are not one of the best teams in the country." 🏀🎙️#NCAATournament

@rforan23 Also a travesty that he's never got an extended look in the NBA. He's done well every time he's gotten a 10 day contract; absolutely tears it up in the G League; is a great locker room guy; and would be an amazing 10-15 min/game player. He's still grinding though!
