Let me just add though it doesn’t need saying…the free press in this country will continue to cover every military casualty and explain as best it can how it happened. It’s not about you @PeteHegseth or Trump. It actually IS about what makes America great: sacrifice and honor. So perhaps get a grip bud.

In today's press conference, @PeteHegseth said: "When a few drones get through or tragic things happen, it's front page news. I get it. The press only wants to make the president look bad, but try for once to report the reality the terms of this war will be set by us at every step." A fact check: The press -- particularly the legacy Pentagon press corps -- has a long history of covering U.S. military casualties. Under Bush. Under Obama. Under Biden. And yes, under Trump. Those efforts haven't always been perfect. But they've highlighted sacrifices by American service members and their families, and shortcomings that sometimes allowed those deaths to happen. We'll continue to do so. It's too important to stop.
