Sorry to say because I've enjoyed NVIDIA's gfx cards and I still use CUDA for sims but the criticism of a DLSS 5 use case in games seems legit. Changing a game's fidelity from cartoony to "realistic," especially with face renderings, moves a game straight into the uncanny valley.

I painted this when I was 19. It’s Ayatollah Khomeini. I think this is the painting that landed me the job at Softdisk which led to id software. I don’t think any of the other founders of id have ever seen this painting.

@Flak @georgebsocial I would mow lawns just to have enough quarters to last a whole Saturday afternoon at the mall, which me and my friends walked a few miles to through traffic and bad weather. My only goal was to make a quarter last so I could have enough for a hot dog and root beer at the A&W.

1982. Playing games cost .25 per play and you had to go outside and drag your ass to an arcade and the cabinets were manufactured like this. So yeah, your parents/grandparents did walk 8 miles in the snow to play video games!

@Serellan I often think of Chris Crawford's dragon speech whenever someone invokes the mythical beast.

I realized I've been using the term "Chasing the Dragon" very wrong. I always used it as going after something that is potentially very dangerous and could turn around and bite you. Apparently it has a more specific reference. I get now why people will often look at me funny.
