My mentor, leader and idol Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr. Has passed. He was perhaps the most significant political figure of the late 20th Century and a Prime Minister for Black America. His shoes cannot be filled, but we can all learn from his legacy. #KeepHopeAlive

“The truth is, if any other president did what President Trump does before 8 a.m. on a Tuesday during the entirety of their presidency, we would have come together as a nation and said this person is too crazy to be president.” — @RobertPatillo on #TheGroupChat 👥💬

During Black History Month, on the very same day I stood as Co-Chair of the National Prayer Breakfast calling this nation toward unity, humility, and moral clarity, President Trump shared a racist meme depicting President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama as jungle apes. Let’s be absolutely clear: this is not humor. This is not politics. This is racism, raw, ugly, and dangerous. For centuries, racist caricatures have been used to dehumanize Black people, justify violence, and deny us our full humanity. These images are not accidental. They are rooted in a long history of hate, meant to demean, divide, and degrade. When they come from the President of the United States, they do more than offend. They endanger. At the National Prayer Breakfast, we prayed for healing, compassion, and a nation grounded in dignity and love. Hours later, the President chose mockery, cruelty, and racial contempt. That contrast tells the story. Leadership demands moral responsibility. The presidency should elevate our values, not degrade them. It should unite our people, not inflame hatred. It should reflect the best of who we are, not the worst impulses of our past. The Obamas represent grace, excellence, service, and dignity. No racist meme can erase their legacy or their impact. But silence in the face of this ugliness is not an option. We must call this what it is. We must reject it. And we must recommit ourselves to building a country where every child knows their life has value, their identity is honored, and their humanity is never up for debate. We deserve better. America must do better. #BlackHistoryMonth #RejectRacism #MoralLeadership #NationalPrayerBreakfast #Unity #Justice #Dignity

National Association for Gun Rights
"The President is simply wrong. While we agree you can’t interfere with law enforcement, you absolutely have the right to carry the tools for self-defense while lawfully protesting. In fact, that’s precisely the kind of place where exercising that right matters most. Unfortunately, this isn’t just a misstatement by the President; it reflects a broader problem with the messaging of other highly ranked Administration officials." - @GunRightsPrez

Trump: You can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns. It's a very unfortunate thing.

This sentiment from the First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California is dangerous and wrong. Responsible public voices should be awaiting a full investigation, not making generalizations and demonizing law-abiding citizens.

If you approach law enforcement with a gun, there is a high likelihood they will be legally justified in shooting you. Don’t do it!

Many businesses are banning federal agents from entering. Civil & human rights attorney @RobertPatillo says while establishments can legally refuse -- they can't if agents have a warrant. "At the same time, staff have to be trained that if agents do show up with a valid warrant, this is not the moment for a heroic physical standoff."
