We are rightly appalled by any war crime in Afghanistan killing civilians but our Govt supports allied nuclear weapon targeting of millions of civilians in cities around the world. Time to respect IHL. We must tell them - Not in Our Name ! @ican_australia @nuclearban @RedCrossAU

Saddened by this news as I found Simon Crean to be a committed reformer and fighter for just causes including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander human rights during my time as a Minister. Simon Crean dies aged 74 smh.com.au/politics/feder…

A damning new report has labelled Queensland the jail capital of the country as millions are being spent on building more youth detention centres, but advocates say it could be counterintuitive | #QldPol @brendanjsmith10

Panel discussion on driving social change at the #NTCOSSConference. @RobertTickner making the point that the NT will never be able to fund the investment needed alone. He urges the NT to create a sustained bipartisan campaign to get our fair share from the Commonwealth. We agree.

"The unquestionable truth is that nuclear weapons are trained on the cities of the world, they are trained on civilians. Through the extended nuclear deterrence doctrine, they are poised to be unleashed on the people of the world." ICAN Ambassador @RobertTickner @evattaus

Spears taken by Captain Cook in 1770 to be returned to Sydney's La Perouse Aboriginal community - ABC News. Such wonderful news to wake up to for the Aboriginal community and for Australia. Congratulations to those who fought so hard for this just outcome. abc.net.au/news/2023-03-0…

@mikeaubrey2 @JailingsFailing An welcome aspect of the work of the Justice Reform Initiative is a capacity to find people of goodwill from very different perspectives who can find common ground on these issues. Good public policy is abandoned when political parties engage in phoney law and order auctions.

Law & Order barely mentioned in Vic election. Crime is declining but we still have a prison problem. Why? Is there political will to tackle it? @JailingsFailing There’s a real shock, horror to crime – and politicians ignore it theage.com.au/politics/victo…

Real progress in evidence based criminal justice policy from Tasmanian Liberal Government.”It’s time”the big ALP led State Govts got behind the movement for reform. Invest people and in breaking the cycle not more prisons costing the public billions in taxes @JailingsFailing

Tasmania's blueprint for youth justice represents an opportunity to fix a broken system, recognising the harm of incarceration for children and acknowledging that a different approach is needed. We commend the Tasmanian government for its leadership. loom.ly/MwL0D0U
