A man attacked a pregnant mother and tried to kidnap her three young children near the bus stop. He fought off bystanders and even tried to break into a locked bathroom where the family hid.Canaan, who was pumping gas nearby, heard screams, ran over, grabbed the attacker from behind, and pinned him to the ground using his wrestling skills. He calmly held him down until police arrived.Canaan was a district wrestling champion from Mayfield High School. The dramatic incident was caught on surveillance video. Tragically, Canaan later died in a motorcycle crash in Las Cruces at age 18.
